From a young age, many boys are told to be a man, not to cry , to carry it alone . So they grow up holding job pressure, family responsibilities, grief and fear in silence, and the silence can weigh more than the problem itself. A man who says "I'm fine" may be the one who needs someone to ask again.
This year's World Mental Health Day theme, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change", includes our men. Being open is not weakness. It takes courage to say, "I am struggling." If you have been holding it all in, you do not have to do it alone. Speak to a trusted friend, a brother, a pastor or a counsellor.
To everyone else, make room for the men in your life to speak, and listen when they do. When men's real voices are heard, real change reaches whole families.
Join us as we mark World Mental Health Day on 10th October.

This year's World Mental Health Day theme, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change", asks us to listen well.
When someone shares their pain, we are quick to advise or say, "Be strong." But they are not asking for a solution. They are asking to be believed. Put your phone down, let them finish, and say, "Thank you for telling me." Stay with them, even in the silence.
Being heard does not fix everything, but it tells a hurting person they are not invisible. That is where real change begins.
Who needs to be heard by you today?

Who has been strong for everyone else, and who is checking on them?
We often say, "She is so strong," or "He will be fine," and then we move on. But strength is not the absence of pain. Many of the people we call strong have simply learned to carry it quietly.
The eldest child. The mother and the father. The pastor, the teacher, the nurse, the counsellor. They hold everyone else up, and they are rarely asked how they are doing.
This is what Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change asks of us. Real voices include the quiet ones behind the smile, the ones who have not felt allowed to be tired.
This World Mental Health Day, think of the strong one in your life and ask, "How are you, really?" Then put down your phone and listen.

Many people carry heavy things in silence, not because they have nothing to say, but because they do not believe anyone will really listen. Being heard tells us our feelings are real and we are not alone.
This week, be that person for someone. Put your phone down, ask how they are, and stay quiet long enough for the real answer.

So tell us: when last were you truly heard?

Some days are heavy, and that is okay. This World Mental Health Day, we are making room for real voices and real stories, because nobody should have to carry a bad day in silence. Sharing what helps us can help someone else get through their own hard moment. 💛

So tell us, what makes you feel calm on a bad day?

Mental health is how we think, feel and relate to others. It shapes how we handle stress, make choices, love, work and heal. Just like our bodies, our minds need care, rest and support, and having a hard season does not make anyone weak. 💛
Every year on 10 October, the world marks World Mental Health Day to raise awareness, end stigma and remind us that help and hope are within reach. Check on your people, speak kindly, and reach out when you need to. A conversation can change someone's day, and sometimes their life.

Critical Thinking Is a Leadership Skill
Bad leaders react. Good leaders think.
A leader without critical thinking follows the loudest voice in the room. A leader with critical thinking asks: "Is this right, or just popular?"
A leader without critical thinking panics under pressure. A leader with critical thinking pauses, weighs the options, and responds.
Leadership isn't having all the answers it's asking the right questions before you commit.
That's leadership. That's critical thinking. Same skill, different name.

People think staying calm under pressure is weakness.
It's not weakness it is control.
People think apologizing first is weakness.
It is not it's maturity.
People think walking away from a fight is weakness.
It's not it's discipline.

Emotional skills don't make you weak. They make you someone who can handle pressure without breaking, conflict without exploding, and setbacks without giving up.

The strongest people are not the loudest in the room. They're the ones who stayed composed when everyone else lost it.
Social and emotional learning is not softness.

It is strength you can't always see but you can always feel its impact.

Opportunities will never knock on your bedroom door.
You can spend months polishing your CV, scrolling job boards, or writing business ideas in a notebook. Real breakthroughs happen when you step into the right room.

We are putting the finishing touches on something massive for young Cameroonians. The YOCILAB Youth Summit is coming to Bamenda, bringing 500 ambitious delegates into the same space at Hill Park Hotel.

This is not a conference for passive listening. We are setting up five active zones to connect you directly with employers, investors, university representatives, and industry mentors.

Imagine walking into a space where a single conversation or handshake could open the exact door you have been waiting for.

We will be launching soon, and registrations are opening very soon. Because we are keeping mentorship sessions focused and high-quality, available seats will be capped. Ask yourself: who could you meet in that room?

Turn on your post notifications and alert your friends. When the registration link drops, you will want to secure your spot immediately.
