Proposal for Acquisition of Sewing Machines and Materials for Skill Development of Orphans, community and widows
Kauma Foundation in Jinja aims to empower orphans and widows by equipping them with practical skills that enable them to achieve self-sustainability. To support this goal, we propose acquiring sewing machines and learning materials to establish a sustainable tailoring program. This initiative will provide orphans with valuable skills, enhance their creativity, and improve their future employability.
The objective of this proposal is to secure funding for the purchase of sewing machines, learning fabrics, and related materials to enable orphans at the center to acquire vocational training in tailoring and design.
Details of the Project
1. Sewing Machines:
Quantity: 5 machines
Types and Costs:
2 machines for design: 3,700,000 UGX each = 7,400,000 UGX
1 manual machines: 870,000 UGX each = 870,000UGX
2 standard machines: 580,000 UGX each = 1,160,000UGX
Total Cost for Machines: UGX 9,430,000
2. Learning Materials:
Fabrics:
4 rolls of fabric: 490,000 UGX each = 1,960,000 UGX
Other Tools: Scissors, threads, measuring tapes, and needles will be covered in our training budget.
3. Training Program:
Duration: 6 months
Trainers: Volunteers and tailoring professionals from the community
Curriculum: Introduction to tailoring, garment design, and basic business management.

Expected Outcomes
1. Empowered Orphans and widows : At least 10 by 10 will gain valuable tailoring skills.
2. Increased Self-Sustainability: Participants will have the ability to start their own businesses or secure employment.
3. Community Development: The program will enhance the local economy through skill-based empowerment.
