Climate change is not only measured in damaged infrastructure or economic costs. For many vulnerable communities, especially women and girls with disabilities, the greatest losses are often invisible; loss of dignity, safety, culture, identity, wellbeing, social connection, and opportunities.
Through a Capacity Building Training on Global Non-Economic Loss and Damage (NELD) Indicators & Frameworks, IDIWA brought together staff, Board members, and partners to strengthen knowledge and deepen understanding of these often-overlooked climate realities.
The training aimed to equip participants with the capacity to recognize, document, and advocate for the inclusion of non-economic losses and damages in climate adaptation action and financing, ensuring that climate responses move beyond statistics to reflect lived human experiences.
At IDIWA, we believe that effective climate action must be holistic, rights-based, disability-inclusive, and rooted in the voices and realities of those most affected. Because what cannot always be counted still matters.
