If my summer could be best summarized, it’d be this picture which represents 6 weeks of meeting virtually with an amazing team consisting of an engineer, a designer, an Occupational Therapist. Together, we created and designed two products to make the donning and doffing of shoes more accessible.
For me, the icing on the proverbial cake was traveling to London for the UK Showcase and meeting the entire team of this summer’s inaugural UK design cohort.

I kept a journal during my recent trip to Africa because I wanted to remember my thoughts and impressions.

Now, when I read those words, the experience only grows richer.

This little one, though serious as he was, greeted me on the day we arrived. His shyness was eventually overcome by his curiousity; and his frown gradually became a smile.

To meet children in their environment and to witness their joie de vivre continues to remind me that happiness exists within us.

Thank you to everyone who attended our event celebrating and honoring our partnership with the See Them Grow Foundation. It was a lovely evening of welcoming friends and sharing the story of how our two organizations are uniting to help adults and children with orthopedic disabilities in the Luuka District of Uganda.

Thanks to the generosity of Africa Strong Inc., a Books For Africa shipping container is being converted into a micro clinic to serve the community, at large. It is housed at the See Them Grow Foundation where it’ll have a pharmacy, laboratory, examination room, and orthopedic room.

Still in the planning and development stages of the clinic, we foresee that it’ll serve a myriad of unmet needs for the community, at large in the most economically depressed region of Uganda.

Thank you to our friends, new and old; and to Minneapolis Club for the beautiful space and hospitality.

Together, we will make change.

Back home from a life-changing trip to Uganda for my nonprofit, . While I am still processing all that I saw, learned, and experienced, I thank the gift of time and connections. For, without the time or the connections to come to this juncture, the opportunity to help children with disabilities in this part of the world would not have happened like it was supposed to happen.
Patience has never been my strongest trait, but I’m learning to trust the timing of life- now, more than ever.

There are some things in life that bring us indescribable joy; and for me, it’s trying to make the world a better place for children with disabilities with my beloved Project Lolo.

As I sit on a plane about to embark upon a journey to Uganda to work with an orphanage in a remote region of the country, I am humbly grateful for this life I’ve been given.

Here’s to little girls with big dreams!
