Fr. Kituuma's Legacy Lives On - Fr. Patrick Museveni

Masaka | 6 March 2026

The faith community is mourning the loss of Fr. Herman Dr. Kituuma, a devoted priest of Masaka Catholic Diocese who passed on to eternal glory this morning, Friday, March 6, 2026, at Lubaga Hospital.

This is according to the obituary of Bishop Serverus Jjumba, Bishop of Masaka Diocese, signed by Fr. Charles Jude Jjuko, Chancellor of the Diocese.

Rev. Fr. Patrick Museveni, Director of Social Communications Department Hoima Catholic Diocese and Radio Maria Uganda Hoima 90.7FM, a former student of Fr. Kituuma at Katigondo National Major Seminary, remembers him as a guiding light who instilled self-reliance in his students.

Fr. Kituuma, a Rector, teacher of Greek, Bible and Farmer, taught us all "to be at the Seminary not as one at a Picknick, but a place where to unlearn, relearn and learn - not to be a burden to anyone," added Fr. Museveni.

Ordained in 1984, Fr. Kituuma served as Rector of Katigondo National Major Seminary from 2007 to 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many.

His funeral will take place at Bukalasa Seminary Cemetery on Monday, March 9, 2026, with a Holy Mass at 12:00 noon.

May his legacy inspire us to emulate his dedication and service. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

REMAIN FOCUSED - BP. KIRABO

By Milly Mbabazi

Mon 8 Sept 2025 | Kampala

The Bishop of Hoima Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo Amooti, has urged pilgrims bound for Rome to remain focused on their spiritual journey, cautioning them against getting distracted by unfamiliar sights.

The bishop offered these words of wisdom while leading a mass to pray for the safe travels of the 89 pilgrims embarking on their journey today. The pilgrims will be in Rome from September 8th to 13th.

During the mass, Bishop Kirabo reminded the faithful of the seven key pillars to observe during this year's pilgrimage. These include passing through holy doors, reconciling with God, persistent prayer, commitment to liturgy, fearless proclamation of the Catholic faith, and seeking indulgences. The Mass was at Kolping Hotel in Kampala on Sun 7 Sept 2025.

Mr. JohnMary Mzee Kisembo, head of the laity in Hoima Catholic Diocese, expressed gratitude to the bishop for organizing this pilgrimage.

He noted that the group comprises 89 pilgrims, with 9 from Kagadi vicariate, 16 from Kibaale vicariate, 5 from Masindi vicariate, and 54 from Hoima vicariate.

Additionally, 4 pilgrims are from Lugazi diocese and 1 from Kabale diocese, 3 Protestants have also joined the pilgrimage: Mr. Bingi Julius Kawaiso, Director of De Place Hotel, his wife Mrs. Rose Bingi, and Mr. Jimmy Nyangabyaki from Bujuni Parish.

The pilgrims, including Mrs. Sylvia, Deputy Hoima City Mayor, say, they are traveling to Rome to seek divine intervention through prayer.

Their itinerary includes visits to Vatican City, St. Padre Pio, St. Rita of Cascia, and St. Michael the Archangel.
