Background and history
Laminopabo Child Development Center is located about 25 Km from Gulu town in Gulu District in Northern Uganda. The inception of the Laminopabo Child Development Center dates back to February 2014 when the first registration of children was done. The ICP is Deliverance Church Laminopabo under the umbrella of Deliverance Church of Northern Uganda. The project is registered wit
h the NGO Board and submits to the National Deliverance Church Secretariat in Kampala. The principal Objective of its establishment lies in the need to play an advocacy role for vulnerable, powerless and thus voiceless children and to nurture them to their full potential. This objective shall be achieved through way of Christ so that they can develop holistically i.e physically, socially, economically and spiritually self-sustaining in the Way of the Lord. Problem statement:
The account of prolonged insurgency (Over 26 years) by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in the Northern part of Uganda where the project is located caused undesirable effects that led to vulnerable conditions among the children in this area. The insurgency disrupted productive activities that affected livelihood and the worst hit were children. Many children were orphaned, r***d and defiled, suffered child labor, and psychological humiliation and torture. There were extended effects like disrupted economic activities in agriculture which is the major activity for the locals. This spread poverty, caused homelessness and this was hard hitting to the children in this part of the country. Further still the r**e and cases of defilement multiplied the problem through spread of HIV/AIDS among caregivers. This has even led to transmission to children being born currently. Notwithstanding children growing under the care of parents who have been tormented by the war and suffer post war trauma. Basic life needs were interfered with thus nutrition, shelter, education, medical to mention, resulting from poverty. Project Objectives:
It will be in our mandate to achieve following objectives with registered children
To share Christ’s love with the children to realize their fullness in Christ
To support children grow Spiritually, in Godly Wisdom, Physically and psycho-socially
To equip children with relevant life skills for their sustained livelihood
To answer children’s call by standing in advocacy to speak for and protect vulnerable and voiceless children
To support vulnerable children access basic services as education, health services. Mission Statement:
Our existence is to stand in support of children to reach their full potential by partnering with like-minded stakeholders in creating enabling environment for children to attain their full potential spiritually, socially, physically and economically; and become change agents in the world around them through sharing Godliness.
