Grassroots Empowerment League Uganda (GELU) is a registered Community-Based Organisation based in Gulu Municipality. It was founded in 2013 by indigenous people living in Iriaga Central Subward, Laroo Division, in Gulu Municipality; with the aim of empowering children, youth, women and men through provision of microfinance; improved agriculture; vocational skills training; Income Generating Activi

ties and community education on livelihoods issues such as HIV/AIDS, environmental conservation, family planning, environmental sanitation and home hygiene. The organization currently has a membership of 150 engaged in Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA), handicraft (paper bead making), piggery and HIV/AIDS awareness.
