On World Refugee Day, we remember those who have been forced to leave home in search of safety.

At Global Mental Health Alliance, our work is rooted in lived experience - war, displacement, survival, and restoration.

From that place, we now walk with refugees in Uganda, offering mental health support, healing, and hope.

Because the hope we have received, we now share.

Choose hope.
Find it. Keep it. Share it.

Hope can begin again.

For many children, youth, and families who have experienced displacement, rebuilding life takes courage, resilience, and support.

It can mean finding safety in a new place.
It can mean learning to trust again.
It can mean discovering that the future still holds possibility.

At Global Mental Health Alliance, we believe healing and hope are possible when people are given the space to belong, recover, and rebuild.

As we prepare to mark World Refugee Day tomorrow, we honor the strength of those who continue to begin again.

Hope grows when people know they belong.

For children, youth, and families who have experienced displacement, belonging can be one of the most powerful foundations for healing and rebuilding.

Belonging creates safety.
Belonging restores dignity.
Belonging reminds people they are not alone.

At Global Mental Health Alliance, we believe that hope grows through relationships, community, and spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

As we look ahead to World Refugee Day on June 20, we continue to reflect on the importance of creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive.

Yesterday, on the Day of the African Child, we celebrated the strength, dignity, and potential of children across Africa.

Today, we continue reflecting on what hope looks like for children, youth, and families navigating displacement, change, and uncertainty.

Resilience is often built in the everyday... in safe spaces, supportive relationships, and communities where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

As we look ahead to World Refugee Day on June 20, we honor the courage of those who continue to rebuild, adapt, and hold onto hope for the future.

Because hope does not end in uncertainty. It continues through resilience.

Today, we join communities across Africa in celebrating the Day of the African Child.

This year's theme, "Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa," reminds us that every child deserves the foundations they need to grow, learn, and thrive.

Access to clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene is about more than infrastructure—it is about health, dignity, opportunity, and wellbeing.

At Global Mental Health Alliance, we believe that when children are supported, valued, and given the opportunity to flourish, hope grows stronger for families, communities, and future generations.

Today, we celebrate the resilience, potential, and promise of Africa's children.

Because hope begins with every child.

What does hope look like?

Sometimes it looks like a child raising their hand in class.

Sometimes it looks like a young person refusing to give up on a dream.

Sometimes it looks like a community coming together to support the next generation.

As we prepare to celebrate the Day of the African Child tomorrow, we are reminded that hope often begins in the lives of children, and it grows when they are given the opportunity to thrive.

At 16 years old, "Daniel"* had begun to lose hope. After fleeing conflict with his family and facing significant challenges at home, he was on the verge of giving up on school.

Through GMHA's Empower Kids Program, Daniel rediscovered confidence in himself and hope for the future. Today, he is determined to complete his education and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor so he can serve others in his community.

"Before the program, I had already given up on school because life was too hard. But now I feel hopeful again. I want to study hard and become a doctor so I can help sick people in the future."

As we look ahead to the Day of the African Child, we are reminded that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream beyond their circumstances.

Hope rarely grows in isolation.

It takes communities that care, people who show up for one another, and a shared commitment to dignity, wellbeing, and opportunity.

As we look ahead to the Day of the African Child and World Refugee Day, we are reminded that hope grows when children, families, and displaced communities are supported, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

This month, we invite you to join us in prayer, advocacy, and action as we celebrate resilience and stand alongside those working toward a brighter future.

Together, we believe that .

Hope begins with the basics that allow children to grow, learn, and thrive.

As we look ahead to the Day of the African Child, we are reflecting on this year's theme: ensuring universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene for every child in Africa.

Access to these essentials helps create the conditions children need to stay healthy, learn, and reach their full potential.

Because hope begins where children have the opportunity to thrive.

Throughout June, Global Mental Health Alliance is joining communities across Africa and around the world as we reflect on the Day of the African Child and World Refugee Day.

This is a month to pause and think about what it truly takes for children, youth, families, and displaced communities to not just survive - but thrive.

From access to basic needs like water and sanitation, to the deeper need for safety, dignity, and belonging, we believe hope begins where people are supported to live and grow well.

Follow along as we share stories, reflections, and ways to get involved.
