When little Ryan was brought to us in January 2024, he was fighting severe malnutrition. Today, two years later, he is healthy, full of life, and completely unrecognisable!

Transformations like Ryan’s are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. A special thank you to our hardworking, compassionate team at the Young Child Clinic and to Dr. Simone from Canada for her incredible generosity and support.

Together, we are giving children a second chance at a healthy life.

Dr. Okot-Nwang Martin dedicated his life to the service of humanity through medicine. As a highly respected physician, he was known for his professionalism, clinical excellence, humility, and undying commitment to patient care. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Nwang was an exceptional teacher and mentor. He played a significant role in the training and development of medical students, interns, nurses, and doctors, generously sharing his knowledge and experience with future generations of healthcare professionals. Many who passed through his teaching remember him not only for his mastery of medicine but also for his patience, wisdom, and dedication to learning.

His passing is a great loss to St. Mary's Hospital Lacor, the medical profession, and the many people whose lives he influenced during his years of service.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, former students, and all whose lives were enriched by his presence.

"I took a risk and I was unlucky."

Those were the words of Dr. Lucille Teasdale after she took risks operating on numerous soldiers brought from the front lines during the civil unrest in Uganda in the 1980s and ended up contracting HIV. She became known as a war surgeon at a time when she found herself the only surgeon capable of performing complex surgery in Northern Uganda. We share her last interview with a Canadian media.
