The most organized temporary structures in the heart of Gulu City are at The Terminal, the former Gulu city abattoir, which hosts over thirty containers. These containers are considered semi-permanent structures that are being removed around Gulu city. This place allegedly belongs to Gen. Salim Saleh, brother of the First Gentleman. Now, as Gulu city authorities enforce the removal of such structures, these containers have not yet been touched, for reasons that no one can explain, but everyone can speculate. This area hosts shops that deal in products manufactured or made in Uganda, brought directly from Kapeka, which is reportedly home to factories that belong to Gen. Saleh. We should not forget that The Terminal was one of the few places that operated undisturbed during the COVID-19 period when every other business was locked down, which briefly tells you about the power behind the place. So, as the demolition continues, one question is: Will the authorities dare touch those temporary structures that occupy vast prime land within the city, or will they, out of fear, selectively neglect their duties

The Police in Gulu City have announced the arrest of Aleng Fatuma and 40 others who aledgely participated in assaulting and looting of people's property within Gulu City Center on 6/12/2025 when the NUP Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu came to campaign in Gulu City.
By use of CCTV monitoring footages and other networks, the Police carried out a coordinated and intelligence led operation on the night of 18/12/2025 in Gulu City and its suburbs leading to their arrests, they are currently being detained at Gulu CPS.

Aleng Fatuma allegedly led the mobilization of the suspected criminal gangs using various media platforms like TikTok among others.

Accoring to ASP David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson, they are still on the look out for other suspects who are still at large.

In Memoriam: Pastor Joseph Okidi

It's with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Joseph Okidi, a renowned gospel singer and former Guild President of Gulu University. According to reports, Pastor Okidi was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on September 30 and passed away after being transferred to Mulago Hospital.

Pastor Okidi was a dedicated servant of God and a passionate leader who touched many lives through his music and ministry. His dedication to his community and university will be deeply missed.

May his soul rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.

-Victims rushed to Karuma restoration gate way hospital and kiryandongo hospital
-The body of the bus driver conveyed to kiryandongo hospital mortuary pending postmortem
-The bus still at the scene awaiting breakdown to be towed to the station.

Makome Bus Accident Claims Driver's Life After Collision with Elephant

A Makome bus traveling from Gulu to Kampala was involved in a fatal accident early Monday morning after it collided with a herd of elephants near Karuma Travelers Inn, resulting in the death of the driver and critical injuries to six passengers.

According to Makome Bus Company Director, Mr. Okot Charles, the bus, registration number UAR 339M, departed Gulu at 12:30 a.m. The accident occurred when the vehicle encountered a group of four elephants on the road. The bus struck one of the animals, causing severe damage to the vehicle.

The bus driver, identified as Okema Patrick, a resident of Palabek, was confirmed dead . Six people were critically injured and were transported by ambulance for urgent medical care. Passengers with minor injuries were taken to Kiryandongo hospital.

Plans are reportedly in progress to transfer those with minor injuries to Gulu for further management, where their families can more easily reach them.
