*Youth caucus meeting at kanyagoga A cell, kanyagoga ward Bardege-Layibi division Gulu city on 27th June 2024 on social accountability meeting on youth empowerment government programs.*
The meeting brought over 50 participants, including youth, women, persons with disability, Town agent kanyagoga Ward, the CDO Bardege-Layibi members of youth caucus, and officials from Gwed-G
The meeting aimed at raising awareness on the economic empowerment programs, especially the PDM and other government empowerment programs for youth caucus and youth from the ward level. During the meeting, the CDO Bardege-Layibi clearly explained both the government and NGOs' programs for youth.
Youth were able to raise critical issues, including
πdifficulties in accessing water by residents of kanyagoga A cell, which is now enclosed at Bardege-Layibi police station
πPoor road network (community access road)
π poor waste management ( untimely collection of the waste by division)
πThe issues of child mother whose husband, especially UPDF and other civil servant, has left them with parental roles of caring for children which has becomes security threats in the area.
πThe miss management of funds at kabedopong
Market and the sorry states of the market
πdelays in fund disbursement for emyoga to the group
π releases of suspect ( notorious youth) from police before they reach court of law
πOver taxation of youth business which makes their business to collapse before they celebrate their first birthday.
*ACTION PLAN*
The Deputy RCC Bardege-Layibi committed to take action on the following issues;
βοΈ follow up with police and designate a time for community to access which is enclosed inside police station.
βοΈ plan to hold a meeting with leaders of kanyagoga regarding gabej/waste management from Monday 1st-5th July 2024 at his office.
βοΈSingle mothers with complaints on their husband over parental negligence should reach his office for assistance
βοΈ he also pledged to follow up on the issues of kabedopong market, and he urged community to embrace government programs that include road opening by the city division Council.
The CDO has urged youth,women, and PWDs to work hard to achieve Uganda's πΊπ¬ vision 2040.
