Information Brief on the First Safari for WASH Edition: The Rotary Club of Gayaza successfully organized the inaugural Safari for WASH, a unique initiative that combined travel and philanthropy. The event focused on enhancing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Uganda's Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools. Held from November 14-16, 2025, at Queen Elizabeth National Park, the event brought together 14 Rotarians and guests from Rotary clubs of Gayaza, Kasangati, and Matugga. Activities included photo opportunities at Jalia City, Uganda Equator Kayabwe, and Rubirizi scenic view, as well as a game drive and boat cruise with wildlife sightings. A surprise birthday celebration and reflective evening around the campfire were also highlights. Reflections and Outcomes: Over dinner, participants reflected on the event's success, commending the organization and camaraderie. Key outcomes included establishing Safari for WASH as an annual signature project, enhancing time management and planning, and securing donations totaling over UGX 3.820m for a WASH project. The beneficiary of the donations will be St John Bosco Gayaza Primary School, which will receive improvements to its WASH facilities. A committee was formed to steer the next edition, with Rtn Sango as Chair. Next Steps: The next event will take place at Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi in September 2026, and suggestions for a new name will be shared on the platform.

On July 13th, the Rotary Club of Gayaza underwent a seamless transition of leadership, marking the conclusion of the Magical year and the commencement of the Unite For Good year. As Rotary continues to evolve, annual leadership transitions occur, promoting new ideas and energies that foster diversity, inclusion, and equity, enabling each member to potentially assume the presidency. Our newly elected President, Rtn Sango Steven Mugerwa, returned from the Rotary International Convention in Calgary, where he represented the Rotary Club of Gayaza, to assume his role as President for the 2025-2026 term. Flavia Nzaaro, the outgoing Magical President, was commended for her exceptional leadership during her 2024-2025 term. Members praised her relentless efforts, showcasing her outstanding leadership as the 4th President of the Rotary Club of Gayaza. This event took place at Eriot Recreation Park in Gayaza.
