Today my heart is heavy.
Kiminati is not just a lion to me-he is a presence I have followed, respected, and felt deeply connected to.
Seeing him injured after a territorial fight is a painful reminder of how unforgiving life in the wild can be.
These battles are part of nature, but that truth doesn’t make the loss or suffering any easier to accept.
Kiminati represents strength, resilience, and the raw beauty of the wild. No matter what happens, he will always remain a powerful symbol of what it means to survive and lead in a world that demands everything.
I’m holding onto hope, and I’m grateful for the time and connection I’ve felt with him.

WHEN DO GORILLAS REACH MATURITY?
Gorillas grow and develop at different stages depending on their role in the group.
In, young gorillas slowly mature over time - females usually reach adulthood earlier, while males take longer to fully grow into strong silverbacks.
As they mature, they develop important social roles within their family groups, learning behavior, leadership, and protection skills from older gorillas.
It’s a natural process that shows how complex and intelligent gorilla societies are in the wild.
