Strengthening Accountability through Technology!
Rwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition (RAC) joined fellow civil society organizations for a 2-day Western Region Training on the upgraded Contract Monitoring System (CMS) held in Mbarara City from July 9–10, 2025.
The upgraded CMS, introduced by PPDA Uganda in partnership with GIZ Uganda, gives CSOs like RAC the tools to track government procurement with more precision, even in remote areas.
New CMS Features:
Offline GPS tracking
A user-friendly interface for easy reporting
Visual evidence upload for stronger data
Real-time feedback for timely action
Together, we’re transforming citizen monitoring from paper-based to digital, and ensuring community voices—especially women, youth, and rural citizens—drive demand for transparency in public procurement.
💬 As PPDA’s Arthur Clive put it:“CSOs must be seen as partners in accountability—not just observers.”
👏 Thank you GIZ Uganda and PPDA for investing in stronger systems and stronger citizens.

RAC together with Bundibugyo district local government visited Kayenje HC lI .Kayenje Health Center II has been temporarily relocated to a makeshift shelter originally used for leprosy patients after a devastating fire destroyed our facility. The current space, made of asbestos, becomes unbearably hot, making it difficult for our dedicated health workers to provide the care our community desperately needs.

We urgently call upon kind-hearted individuals and organizations to help us obtain a tent for a temporary ward while the government works toward a long-term solution. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve!

Strengthening Social Accountability in Education

On June 12-13, 2025, RAC had the honor of hosting CSBAG for a dynamic Learning Visit at our offices in Boma, Fort Portal. This visit brought together Participatory Budget Clubs (PBCs) from Namayingo, Sheema, and Yumbe for peer learning and sharing experiences on how social accountability can transform the education sector.
During the visit, participants gained invaluable insights on:
🔹 Evidence-based advocacy strategies
🔹 Citizen-government collaboration in improving education
🔹 Budget monitoring & service delivery tracking
Together, we're working towards a more inclusive, accountable, and effective education system!

Change is happening! 🌟
During our monitoring visit today, we observed a positive development at Kamwenge Railway Primary School — the school has received a new two-classroom block and an office.
This progress comes after we reported on the challenging conditions where Primary Seven pupils were studying under tree shades due to a lack of classrooms. Thanks to collective advocacy and community voices, learners now have a safer and more conducive learning environment. 📚🏫
We remain committed to championing better education facilities for all!
