A Step Towards Resilience!
Today marked a significant milestone as we officially launched the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) in Kyegegwa District.

URRI is a transformative five-year program funded by the Royal Danish Embassy – DANIDA, focusing on:
Climate-smart agriculture
Environmental restoration
Gender equality and social inclusion

With Save the Children International-Uganda in the lead and other partners, we aim to support 8,000 smallholder farmers in Kyegegwa and nearly 250,000 individuals across Uganda. Together, we’re creating a brighter future for refugee and host communities.

Let’s work together for resilience and sustainability!

Yesterday, at Karambi Primary School, Fort Portal City, we kicked off this exciting initiative under the theme "Embracing Agroecology for Healthy Communities." This competition is about more than poetry, it empowers youth to advocate for sustainability and healthier practices through creativity.

Highlights of the event included:
*Planting fruit trees to symbolize sustainability, biodiversity, and growth.
*A thrilling quiz competition where students showcased their knowledge of agroecology and climate change adaptation, with winners awarded exciting prizes.

A powerful message from the Food Systems and Nutrition Manager Eric Oteba: "This competition is not just about poetry. It's about celebrating the vital connection between agroecology and nutrition. We believe that fostering creativity in our youth will inspire them to advocate for healthier, sustainable practices in their communities."

Together, we nurture a generation ready to lead the way in environmental stewardship and healthy food systems. Iles de Paix Humundi Joint Effort to Save the Environment - JESE
