Rwenzori Information Centres Network - Ric-Net Rwenzori Information Centres Network (RIC-NET) is a community owned information, knowledge and skills sharing network established in 2005 by the CSOs.

RICNET a not for profit organizations working in the Rwenzori region on capacity building of smallholder farmers to access sustainable markets for their food produce, Democratic Governance, Digital inclusion and peaceful coexistence. The organization operates in Uganda but with bulk of the programs in the Rwenzori region. RIC-NET is a community owned information sharing Network.

Our Story

Rwenzori Information Centres Network (RIC-NET), established in 2005 by NGOs in Rwenzori region, duly registered as local NGO (S. 5914/11258), is an independent, non-partisan, network of information and e-society centres empowering and enabling the youth and grassroots communities to overcome poverty, social exclusion and providing a platform for collective reflection, action and voice in Rwenzori region-Uganda. The network membership consists of 15 Information centres/e-society centres from Kasese, Kabarole, Ntoroko, Bundibugyo, Kamwenge, Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa Districts.

The organisation is an active member and partner to several regional / National NGOs Networks such as: RWECO, CEW-IT, DENIVA, Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF), The Humanitarian platform for NGOs in Uganda, Agro-profocus, U-report and Plantwise Uganda.

RIC-NET cherishes a holistic approach to development and recognizes the provision of reliable, timely and relevant information as an essential element to the transformation people’s productivity, social, political and economic spheres.

RIC-NET uses a combination of online tools, information centres, community radios and local meetings, sms polls, civic education, and in-person organizing to help villages indentify critical issues, gather the necessary data or evidence to support specific claims, build support for policy goals through CSOs alliances, and develop and carry out action plans that purposely involve community members in the change campaign. Technology strengthens credibility by helping organisations inform, organize and mobilize citizens effectively and efficiently; facilitate grassroots evidence generation for advocacy without putting citizens at risk, and amplify citizens’ voice.
