Meet our lead mentors: Robert “Butterfly Boy”, Nick “Parrot Man” & Innocent “Bat Man”.

Robert sees wings everywhere (and spots the tiniest things first) — and probably chats more than a Kanyonza (you may know it as the Snowy-headed Robin-Chat).

Nick brings the laughs and gets the kids mimicking bird calls… mostly parrots, obviously!

And Innocent? Although he is fascinated by the flying mammals, he utterly lives and breaths birds — he’s probably birding in his sleep.

But the best bit? They absolutely adore the kids. Every Sunday they show up to share what they know, learn alongside the children, and celebrate every new sighting like it’s the first time.

Sunday morning magic: binoculars up, ears open, hearts full. Local young birders learning to notice the small wild things — and falling in love with nature one sighting at a time.

Village Bird Clubs are inspired and guided by our mentors — Robert, Nick, and Innocent — whose knowledge and passion help to shape the next generation.

eBird Global Birding Day.

Another memorable Day for the kids from all 5 Village Bird Clubs

On 14th October 2023, 😊😊kids from 5 of the VBCs. Seperated to different places to count birds 🦜🕊️🦉and spend longer than the usual two hours of the sundays.

Highlights of the Day’s Activities were,

Singing Cisticola, Blue- breasted Kingfisher, Yellow Bishop, Papyrus Gonolek, Striped Kingfisher and Sand Martin, yellow-billed Stork Challenged by an immature of Snowny - headed Robin-Chat

To quench the thirst, Kids had to experience Rest in Banana 🍌one of the outstanding banana juice 🍹making in the village. This time it was guided by Edwin Kisembo a kid from Bigodi VBC which left laughters on everyone that attended

They hope for another Big Event like this in the Future.
