BREAKING: Tooro Kingdom Mourns – Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV Dies at 34

The Tooro Kingdom and the world have been thrown into deep mourning following the death of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

The youngest reigning monarch in the world at the time of his coronation, King Oyo died on Thursday evening, August 27, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. He was 34 years old.

The tragic news was officially announced by the Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, Owek. Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki.

"It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. This is an immeasurable loss to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation of Uganda. Omukama Atulize. Enkuba Etutire," the statement read.

According to reliable information, His Majesty had been receiving specialized medical treatment in the United States and was in critical condition before his passing.

King Oyo was more than a King. He was a father, a friend, a champion of youth empowerment, and a global ambassador for change. Enthroned on September 12, 1995, at just three years old following the death of his father, he reigned for 31 years and dedicated his life to promoting education, health, HIV awareness, tourism, and environmental conservation.

The Kingdom has assured the public that the continuity of the Crown is secure, noting that His Majesty leaves behind a Prince who will be revealed as heir in accordance with Tooro customs and traditions. Funeral and official mourning arrangements will be announced soon.

May the soul of His Majesty rest in eternal peace.

Nearly 70% of girls in our region don’t finish primary school, and 64% of teenage mothers never make it back to class. With limited education and few job opportunities, many young mothers struggle to feed their children, stay safe, and build stable lives.

PLANE Uganda is changing that.

Through EmpowerHer Farms, young mothers receive hands‑on training in goat rearing, zero‑grazing dairy, poultry farming, and basic farm management. A community garden boosts nutrition and income using a closed‑loop system — manure grows crops, and garden waste feeds the animals. It also gives these mothers a safe space to learn, heal, and support one another.

Your donation helps a young mother gain skills, earn income, and rebuild her future with dignity.
Every donation to this campaign becomes something real, tangible, and life‑changing:
🌱 $10–$25
Gives a young mother access to hands‑on training in farming, animal care, and income‑building skills.
🐐 $50–$75
Helps provide goats, chicks, feed, or essential supplies — the tools she needs to start earning right away.
🌾 $100+
Supports the full journey: training, startup resources, and the community garden that feeds families and strengthens long‑term independence.
This is a chance to give a young mother stability, dignity, and the power to build a future she once thought was out of reach.
When you donate, you’re not just supporting a project —
you’re investing in a mother’s confidence, her children’s education, and a community’s resilience.
