*A Message to the Incredible Women of Busia on International Women's Day*

Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, we honor the strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit of women at the Busia-Uganda-Kenya border and beyond. You are the backbone of our communities, the nurturers of our families, and the driving force behind progress in every corner of our society.

To the women who tirelessly work to restore degraded lands, ensuring food security and a greener future for generations to come—your dedication to combating climate change inspires us all.

To the women who stand tall against illicit trade and smuggling, empowering yourselves and others through informal cross-border trade—your courage and determination are shaping a brighter, more equitable future.

To the women who support education, ICT skills, and inclusive opportunities for youth and children with disabilities—your commitment to knowledge and empowerment is transforming lives and breaking barriers.

To the women who provide healthcare support, ensuring the well-being of our communities—your compassion and care are the heartbeat of our society.

Today, we celebrate YOU—your resilience, your leadership, and your boundless contributions to our shared progress. May your voices continue to rise, your dreams continue to soar, and your impact continue to grow. Together, we stand with you, for you, and because of you.

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌸

Thesambas Community Based Foundation: Addressing Health, Education, Food Security, and Environmental Conservation through Community-Led Approaches at the Busia Uganda-Kenya Border

The Thesambas Community Based Foundation, operating at the Busia Uganda-Kenya border, is a beacon of hope in combating illicit trade and cross-border smuggling while empowering women and youth engaged in informal cross-border trade. This initiative recognizes the interconnectedness of health, education, food security, domestic violence, environmental conservation, and economic empowerment. By addressing these issues holistically, the Foundation is fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life for Busia Uganda-Kenya border communities and can be replicated in all Border areas of Uganda.
