BACK GROUND INFORMATION
BTYO (Busia Talented Youth Organization) was started in 2012 with 15 members (9 female, 6 male currently they are 95 members (36 female, 59 male). It was started as a CBO. The organization has got an executive committee that response the
running of the activities in the organization. This committee report to the general meetings
VISION:
Dreams come true with Talent to youths. OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANISATION
1. To promote talents among Busia municipal council youths for example football, brass band, playing music composition, Acrobatic and drummer.
2. To reduce illiteracy among the youths in Busia Municipal Council.
3. To reduce idleness among the youths in Busia Municipal Council.
4. To encourage self employment among the youths and promote saving culture.
5. To install discipline among the youths of Busia Municipal Council.
6. To educate and sensitized the youths in Busia Municipal Council about the killer disease especially the STI’s AND STD’s.
7. To restore hope among the school drop out through making them join the band and doing other musical activities like singing dancing playing guitar. CORE PROGRAM AREAS

• Promoting talents among youths.
• Protecting the girl child and boy. ACHIEVEMENTS
• BTYO has a well established brass band.
• A craft project to generate some income for the youths and children.
• BTYO has reduced idleness among the youths in Busia municipal council.
• The saving culture has been encouraged.
• We have restored hope to three (3) school drop outs.
• Improved self esteem of the members.
• Sensitized most of the members on environment conservation.
• Encouraged one member to stop and avoid drugs. CHALLENGES
• Transportation of the brass band equipments to long distances.
• Theft and storage of the equipments when in the field.
• In adequate identification material/items for example uniforms.
• Insufficient materials for crafts and brass band equipments. PROSPECTS/WAY FORWARD
1. To restore more hope to school drops & other disadvantaged youths.
2. To provide a van for example to facilitate the movements for the brass band members and when moving to the field.
3. To purchase a piece of land, in order to construct a resource rehabilitation centre and an office for BUSIA TALENTED YOUTH.
4. Expansions of craft project both locally, Nationally and internationally through exports.
5. Reduction of HIV/AIDS (STDs/STI) among the youth of Busia Municipal Council.
6. Planting more fruit bearing trees and other types of trees in Busia Municipal Council.
7. To encourage more youths who are involved in drugs (ci******es alcohol, ma*****na, sniffing petrol etc.)
8. To sensitize the members to avoid sexual abuses like homosexuality, R**e etc.
