Yesterday, In partnership with Because International, we conducted the ๐’๐ก๐จ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐ž-๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐›๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ at St. Alexander Among'ura Comprehensive School and St. Patricks Ong'aroi Comprehensive School in Teso South Sub County, Busia county.

We carried out this assessment to ascertain the various difficulties pupils face in their school life in connection with ๐ƒ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง ๐„๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ ๐’๐ญ๐ž๐ฉ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ. The assessment plays a fundamental role in the following ways:
1. To help in improving the shoe design and model .
2. To determine shoe sizing as we gear up for shoe Distribution.

Yesterday, we were honoured to host DW Akademie officials at our office during a courtesy visit to ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐’๐š๐Ÿ๐ž ๐•๐จ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ among Media Professionals in Busia County.

The assessment brought together a number of Media Professionalโ€”Journalists, Communication Officers and Social Media Influencers who have participated in the project. During the session, participants engaged with the DW Akademie team, sharing their experiences, the changes they have witnessed in their work, and the challenges they continue to face in the digital media space.

Key discussions centered on two major components of the Safe Voices Projectโ€” ๐Œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‚๐ฒ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐’๐ž๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ. Media professionals highlighted how the training has helped them better understand the importance of managing their mental health matters while navigating the pressures of Journalism, online harassment and the demands of the digital space.

Participants also noted that the cyber security sessions have equipped them with practical knowledge on how to safeguard their online platforms, protect personal information and engage more confidently with audiences online.

The assessment aimed to gather feedback that will help strengthen future implementation of the Safe Voices programme. Insights collected from the participants will guide both DW Akademie and Dhamira Moja CBO on areas that require improvement, expansion, and deeper engagement to better support media professionals in Busia County.

This initiative was spearheaded by Busia Law Courts in partnership with the County Government of Busia, marking a progressive step toward developing a County Action Plan for effective AJS implementation.

The AJS Registries have been established at four key centres: ๐‘ฉ๐’–๐’”๐’Š๐’‚ ๐‘ณ๐’‚๐’˜ ๐‘ช๐’๐’–๐’“๐’•๐’”, ๐‘ท๐’๐’“๐’• ๐‘ฝ๐’Š๐’„๐’•๐’๐’“๐’Š๐’‚ ๐‘ณ๐’‚๐’˜ ๐‘ช๐’๐’–๐’“๐’•๐’”, ๐‘ด๐’‚๐’๐’‚๐’ƒ๐’‚ ๐‘ณ๐’‚๐’˜ ๐‘ช๐’๐’–๐’“๐’•๐’”, ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐‘ฉ๐’–๐’•๐’–๐’๐’‚ ๐‘ณ๐’‚๐’˜ ๐‘ช๐’๐’–๐’“๐’•๐’”, bringing justice services closer to the community.

By integrating community-based, traditional, and informal dispute resolution mechanisms into the formal justice system, the AJS framework strengthens inclusivity, promotes restorative justice, and empowers local actors such as elders and community practitioners.

Dhamira Moja CBO being a stakeholder on Health under its thematic area; ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐š๐ง๐ ๐–๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ was privileged to join other stakeholders on Health Meeting in Busia courtesy of Amref Health Africa under its ๐‘๐„๐€๐‚๐‡-๐Ž๐”๐“ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ โ€”Closing the Immunization Gap by Reaching Zero-Dose aimed at co-designing targeted interventions to ensure every child receives life-saving vaccines.

In order to reach Zero-Dose, the project tends to employ an implementation science approach which includes;
๐Ÿ“Œ Improve data evidence identity- the who, where and why Zero-Dose.
๐Ÿ“Œ Implement and evaluate assess interventions using RE-AIM framework
๐Ÿ“Œ Stakeholders engagement and political economy analysis.

With the Zero-Dose burden in Busia County with the most alarming 6,158 of Children classified as Zero-Dose as per the Department data of 2025, this project will help in reduction in the Zero-Dose in Busia county and ensuring that all the children are fully immunised or vaccinated in preventing disease outbreaks at the community level.

Yesterday, Dhamira Moja CBO affiliated to Y+Kenya and Mildmay Kenya hosted a delegation from National Adolescent and Young People (AYP) drawn from Nairobi and Kajiado to gain insights into effective AYP peer educators models, with a focus on enhancing outreach, mentorship and health education and young people.

In addition, the team witnessed the impactful community based interventions under our organization targeting young adolescents. We showcased Dadakrafts knitted productsโ€”an initiative under the Dada Foundation. that mentors young teen mothers in Knitting and entrepreneurship. The program aims to empower young mothers with practical skills, enabling them to earn a livelihood while rebuilding confidence and securing a better future for themselves and their children.

The engagement fostered valuable knowledge exchange, strengthening efforts to create an enabling environment for Young Adolescent.

We were honoured to participate in ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐ข๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฎ๐ž ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ convened by ๐Š๐„๐…๐„๐€๐ƒ๐Ž on Influencing Investment in TVET through Partnerships, Funding & Inclusion under the ๐Š๐๐„๐’๐“ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ in Busia.

The engagement brought together key stakeholders; including government, private sector, TVET institutions, CSOs, and young women, to reflect on the current TVET landscape, identify barriers to access and inclusion, and explore practical pathways for strengthening investment and impact.

Key discussions highlighted the urgent need to:
โœ… Address socio-cultural and economic barriers limiting young women and girls from accessing TVET.
โœ… Strengthen industry linkages to ensure skills training translates into employment and enterprise.
โœ… Enhance student support systems, including mentorship and psychosocial support..
