Supporting the Fire Victims of Hot Bay, Cape Town

Last month, the community of Hot Bay, Cape Town, faced a devastating tragedy. A fire swept through their homes, destroying not only properties but also livelihoods. Many were left with nothing—no shelter, no belongings, nothing to call their own.

This was an unpredictable disaster, one that no one could have prepared for. The impact was immediate, deep, and personal.

Over the past week, together with Rotaract E-Club of Cape Town & Blouberg, I had the honor of representing my clubs—both Rotary and Rotaract Global Action—in reaching out to this community. We donated essential items: clothes, shoes, and other basic necessities for children, women, and men.

What I witnessed that day went beyond joy. I saw Hope, Dignity, and Love shining through the devastation. It reminded me why we serve. 🙏

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported this drive. Your generosity brought light into the lives of those who had lost everything.

For those who couldn’t join us last time, the need is still real. Mothers have asked for help with school essentials for their children—uniforms, shoes, and other scholastic materials.

If you feel called to help, you can reach out directly to the Hot Bay community members or contact me. I promise your support will reach them efficiently, effectively, and with care.

Let’s continue to bring hope where it’s needed most. 💛

What a beautiful way to celebrate Eid al-Fitr!
After a day filled with grace, gratitude, delicious food, and love, I wrapped it up in the most vibrant way at the CapeTown Carnival 2026 🎭

And honestly… what a spectacle!
From the electrifying music and captivating dance performances to the powerful cultural expressions, stunning fashion, and dramatic displays everything was absolutely on point. The energy of the crowd? Wild in the best way possible!

It was more than just entertainment it was a celebration of diversity, creativity, and joy. A perfect reminder of how beautiful it is when cultures come together in one space.

Grateful. Inspired. And fully entertained. đź’«

A New Chapter. A New Journey. A New Home.

Today marks a truly special moment in my life a new life filled with new opportunities.

I am proud and excited to officially become a full member of the Rotary Club for Global Action . This incredible club has been my family since 2023 standing with me in moments of vulnerability, supporting me through my personal journey, and walking alongside me in my work, programs, and community projects.

For three years, I was connected as an honorary member, a visitor, a Rotaractor learning and growing. But today, I step in fully as a Rotarian and my heart is filled with gratitude and excitement.

This club has given me a family beyond bloodline.

I am excited for the journey ahead to serve, to grow, and to contribute meaningfully. I look forward to supporting various committees including Public Image, Youth, Projects, and Community Service. I am ready to share my skills, my time, and my passion to strengthen our impact and advance Rotary service.

More than anything, I am excited to learn from the wisdom, experiences, and inspiration of the amazing members who make this club what it is. I look forward to growing not just professionally, but personally in skill, in purpose, and in soul.

My deepest gratitude goes to my sponsor and brother Brian Rusch my sister Claire Mahon , President Becky Giblin , Immediate Past President Johwell Saint-Cilien and every member who has mentored and supported me along this journey.

Thank you for believing in me.
Thank you for walking with me.

Charter President, Rotaract Rotaract Club of Global Action , District 9920, News Zealand

I joined Rotaract (Rotaract Club of Kabalagala) during the difficult period of the COVID-19, in the Rotary year guided by the theme: Rotary Open Opportunities,
Then i served as president under the theme: Serve to Change Lives.

At the time, I thought the theme was about transforming communities.
But with time, I realized something deeper it also changed my life.

Many young people join Rotaract because of the inspiring work done by Rotary International through its Seven Areas of Focus:

• Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention
• Disease Prevention and Treatment
• Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
• Maternal and Child Health
• Basic Education and Literacy
• Community Economic Development
• Supporting the Environment

But my journey began from a very personal place.

As a young man navigating life in Kampala, I was experiencing deep loneliness. In a city full of people, I still felt like I didn’t belong anywhere.

What I needed most was community.

Then Kajubi Ibrahim noticed me dancing at an event and later invited me to perform at his graduation celebration. After that moment, he told me something simple but powerful:

“You can use your talent to transform communities through Rotaract.”

That invitation changed everything.

Kajubi didn’t just introduce me to Rotaract he became my brother. Today he remains my elder brother, and through Rotaract I gained something even bigger: a global family of brothers and sisters around the world.

That sense of belonging inspired us when we started the Rotaract Club of Global Action, where we emphasize belonging and skill development.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to contribute to community initiatives including:

• Constructing classroom blocks for pupils in Namutumba District
• Providing sanitation facilities for schools in Busia District and Kabale District
• Supporting youth vocational skills in Namuwongo
• Promoting peace through the Annual Peace Festival
• Sandwich drives in Cape Town
• Blood donation campaigns and environmental initiatives like planting trees

But what stands out the most is not the projects.

It is the , the , and the restored in communities.
