Our Story
Amuno Foundation is a youth-led community-based organization located in Kachumbala, Bukedea district in Uganda about 300km from the city center. It was started in 2017 by Betty Hope Mawenu a then social work student of Ndejje University but registered officially to the Bukedea District Local Government NGO department with registration BKD/273/2019 in August 2019. Its main focus is on creating an empowered, educated, healthy and employed community of children, youth and women.
Among our activities are educating children through sponsorship program and provision of scholastic materials, training of the youth and women in applicable skills for example bricklaying, welding, art and craft, fashion design and tailoring, hairdressing, to promote economic independence, promotion of farming through introducing new technologies and ideas, promoting and facilitation of hygiene with the main focus on menstrual hygiene of girls and young women both in school and outside school, health advocacy inclusive of HIV/AIDS awareness, Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, family planning, etc through seminars, community outreaches, sports (currently table tennis) among others.
