TIHI (The Integrated Health Initiative) is a voluntary, non-discriminatory and non-profit making Community Based Organization in Bukedea district in Uganda. The organization intends to increase demand for integrated health services by providing information and linking the local communities for a wider package of integrated family planning/reproductive health services, child services and HIV/AIDS o
ffered at health facilities. Village health teams, comprised of community health workers and an extension of the government health system at the community level, will be strengthened by TIHI. Through TIHI’s efforts to increase access to essential services in Bukedea district, HIV/AIDS –related stigma shall reduce, contraceptive use and healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy will increase, lowering maternal, neonatal, and child mobility and mortality.
