Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and Sadaqah Jāriyah

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught:

> “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three:
Sadaqah Jāriyah, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”

The teachings and practice of Qurbān come from the example of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH).
He saw a dream in which Allah commanded him to sacrifice his son Ismail (PBUH). Both father and son submitted to Allah’s command, and Allah replaced Ismail with a ram. This act of obedience is the foundation of Qurbān during Eid al-Adha.

In Islam, Qurbān (sacrifice) is mainly connected to the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) عليه السلام and his son Prophet Ismail عليه السلام.
