Think Humanity began assisting refugees with bed nets in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement Camp in May 2007 and Think Humanity became a registered nonprofit organization in December 2007. The genesis of Think Humanity began in 2006, when Aimee Heckel traveled to Uganda as a Boulder Daily Camera journalist on assignment. She visited the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement Camp in the most rural region of w

estern Uganda near the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This trip brought light to the devastating conditions refugees were facing. Lack of education, underdevelopment, rampant malaria and other diseases were leaving the refugees in a state of hopelessness.

Aheebwa Angel received a scholarship at School of Art and Industrial Design in April 2025.
Last Saturday she was in an exhibition to show her work for the semester.
She has always been so creative and artistic. We are so glad that she is able to continue her talent through a scholarship from Prairie IT.

Think Humanity Board of Directors, sponsors, donors, and friends who are local, we hope to see you at An Evening for Africa on June 25th at 6-8pm. Think Humanity will have a table of goods made by the Acholi Artisans who have partnered with Think Humanity since January 2010. Also, Beth, Founder and Executive Director, will speak briefly about the organization and their programs.

The cake sponsor for November and December said, "Emotional well-being and feeling valued are essential to building the self-confidence that will help the girls overcome the many challenges they face and to succeed academically. Birthday cakes are not essential but they are important!"

When Ester's May Newsletter was sent out today, I mentioned that we need monthly sponsors for birthday cakes.
I am grateful for the response.

Each month is $20 for a cake that is split between the entire school but the girls with birthdays that month love to be recognized. For most of these students, it is their first time to celebrate a birthday.

Bujugu West LC1 well was dedicated today. Thank you Western University (Canada), Global Health Systems 2026 and UHIF (United Health International Foundation ) for donating towards this well in Kikuube District, Uganda.
Thank you to the 2026 interns for the part they took in the new well. Unfortunately they were not able to stay in Uganda due to Ebola. We look forward to seeing them if they can return in the future.
