Stakeholder Engagement on Lessons Learned
SDC-Funded Project.

This week, key stakeholders were gathered by SSURA for a reflection meeting on the SDC-funded project on what worked well and what could be improved upon in advancing refugee inclusion and resilience.
The engagement brought together representatives from local government associations of West Nile - WENDA, partner organisations like VNG International, community leaders, and refugee groups for open dialogue and shared learning on how to enhance the quality and sustainability of the program.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Cities Alliance and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation for their sustained support and commitment to refugee-led developments in the West Nile being implemented by SSURA.
In partnership, we build stronger, more inclusive systems, both for refugee migrants and hosting communities in Uganda.

๐Ÿ“ข SSURA Holds ICLA Project Closure Meeting in Koboko Municipality
Yesterday, SSURA successfully held the closure meeting for the Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) Project, a 6-month project implemented in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

The meeting brought together key stakeholders including school head teachers, para-social workers, Local Council leaders, Community Development Officers (CDOs), and the Uganda Police from Koboko and Arua, to reflect on the projectโ€™s achievements and lessons learned.

The ICLA Project has contributed to creating a safe and protective environment for over 10,000 displacement-affected populations in Koboko and Arua, supporting access to legal identity documentation, housing and land rights, legal stay, and essential protection services.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all partners, community leaders, and government structures for their unwavering collaboration and support throughout the project implementation period.

Together, we continue working towards a future where refugees and host communities thrive in safety, dignity, and self-reliance. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿค

Last Friday, we concluded our week-long co-creation workshop with all our incredible partners โ€” and what a journey it has been!

Over the past few days, we came together to share insights, challenge assumptions, and collaboratively design solutions that truly respond to the needs of the refugees and host communities we serve. Through open dialogue, creative thinking, and collective commitment, we strengthened our shared vision of inclusion, resilience, and self-reliance.

These partnerships are more than collaboration โ€” they are a testament to the power of co-creation in driving impact that lasts. By working side by side, we ensure that our programs remain locally grounded, innovative, and sustainable โ€” empowering communities to shape their own futures.

A huge thank you to all our partners, facilitators, and participants for your energy, insights, and dedication throughout the week. Together, weโ€™re not just designing projects โ€” weโ€™re co-creating change. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ช

Building Resilience and Dignity in BidiBidi Refugee Settlement!

Under the Local Empowerment and Development (LEAD) project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Woord en Daad, the South Sudanese Refugees Association welcomed teams from Woord en Daad, OPM, LC3 Chairpersons of Kochi and Lori Subcounties, SSURA Board Members, local leaders of Zone 2, and implementing partners like CECI, Palm Corp, TUNADO, and CEFORD for a joint monitoring visit.

The team visited MAMALANITA VSLA & Farmers Group and SPRA VSLA & Farmers Group, who showcased inspiring progress in farming and savings. ๐ŸŒพ

From planting 180kg of beans and cassava on 5 hectares to harvesting 712kg of beans, the groups are growing food security and income.
Through VSLA activities, members are accessing loans to start businesses and improve livelihoods.
Persons with disabilities have also been supported with poultry to enhance inclusion and participation.

Together, refugees and host communities are demonstrating that empowerment begins locally โ€” with dedication, collaboration, and opportunity.
