The organization was first registered with Arua district community development office as a “CBO” on 22nd July 2008 under registration No. 553 and as a Civil Society Organization with Ministry of internal affairs (National NGO Board) under registration number 8655 as a human rights organization. AHEDI-U shall pursue the following specific OBJECTIVES;
1. To advocate for basic knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles of human rights and Education, especially of the girl child.
2. To engage in sensitization of the society on matters of their human rights and fundamental freedoms .
3. To raise awareness in the communities on the rights of persons with disabilities, their education and inclusion in society.
4. To advocate for social inclusion of marginalized groups and for the prioritization of their needs in all programs and policies of government and local government.
5. To conduct and participate in workshops, seminars, conferences and discussions, and all such gatherings so as to promote advocacy for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
6. To promote peaceful resolution of disputes, referral of cases for litigation, and assist in the process of litigating public interest cases and other matters that promote the rights of the indigent persons.
7. To network and collaborate with entities with similar objectives, mission and vision.
8. To provide legal and social consultation to the public most especially the unprivileged and public institutions on matters affecting the community. AHEDI-U strongly believes that knowledge of Human Rights shapes ones destiny for success

TARGET CLIENTELE
AHEDI-U is targeting
a) Community Organizations / Associations. Under this, AHEDI-U targets community based organizations, cultural institutions, Youth Associations, Women groups and other organized groups to implement her activities or reach the common person at grass root level. b) Public institutions. In her Advocacy programmes AHEDI-U targets Local Governments at District and Lower Local government levels. Primary and secondary schools and other public institutions are also targeted to disseminate programmes.
