The CEFTRA-WN Team proudly joined the Community Youth Parliament organized by the Host Hub Innovation Center in Arua City. The event brought together young people from different sectors, including university student leaders, civil society organizations, secondary school prefects, youth leaders, councilors, and technical and political leaders of the city under the leadership of the newly elected Mayor.

The Youth Parliament created an important platform for dialogue, learning, and collective action on issues affecting young people today. Several key motions were discussed during the session, including youth unemployment and economic empowerment, mental health and wellbeing among youths, drug and substance abuse, advocacy, and meaningful youth participation in decision-making processes. These discussions highlighted the urgent need to create opportunities, strengthen support systems, and empower young people to actively contribute to community development.

The engagement was highly interactive, with participants sharing experiences, ideas, and recommendations on how leaders and stakeholders can work together to address the challenges facing the youth in our communities. At the end of the deliberations, resolutions were developed and will later be presented to the Speaker of Arua City Council for consideration and action.

The event successfully brought together over 60 youths alongside technical and political staff from Arua City, demonstrating the importance of collaboration and inclusive participation in shaping a better future for young people.

CEFTRA-WN remains committed to promoting youth voices, advocacy, leadership, and community engagement to ensure that young people are not only heard but are actively involved in influencing policies and decisions that affect their lives.

From Training to Transformation: Inside the Jiakoyiaa Youth Group

We made a Project Monitoring Visit to Jiakoyiaa Youth Group under the Sustainable Urban Integration of Displacement-Affected Communities SUIDAC-Project), where participants are currently undergoing vocational training in Fashion and Design.
The visit provided a meaningful space to engage with the trainees, observe their progress, and witness firsthand the creativity, dedication, and practical skills they are developing. Their work reflects growing pathways toward self-reliance, economic empowerment, and improved livelihoods.
This initiative is funded by the European Union, managed by Cities Alliance, and hosted by UNOPS.
We remain encouraged by the impact of skills development programmes in strengthening resilience and expanding opportunities for displacement-affected communities.

Empowering Women Through Organization and Leadership.
One of our women’s groups under the Sustainable Urban Integration of Displacement Affected Communities (SUIDAC) Project is developing its constitution to guide its operations, leadership, and registration processes.
This important step will support the group to officially register with the City Community Development Officer (CCDO) and the Division Community Development Office, and later access financial services through banks and other financial institutions of their choice.
Through strengthening governance and organization, the group is building a stronger foundation for sustainability, inclusion, and economic empowerment for women in displacement-affected communities.
This project is funded by the European Union, managed by Cities Alliance, and hosted by UNOPS.
