For three years now, cleaning up the routes/venue has been our signature way of giving back & contribution toward the fight against cancer.

This weekend, our staff did it once more. Taking care of the environment is central to our vision, and we are happy to help drive the positive change we all want to see.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Rotary International, club for this always making this an impactful event.

Siripi Youth Skills Development Center just marked its 9th graduation and what a milestone it is! 158 refugees and nationals from Terego, Madi Okollo, and Yumbe districts completed training in Catering, Tailoring, Carpentry, and Brick Laying, with their skills assessed by in Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement, Terego District.

The event brought together key voices in the community, including Hon. Saka, District Local Council 5 Chairperson of Terego District, and members of the Refugee Welfare Councils of Rhino Camp. Hon. Saka commended PALM Corps and Welthungerhilfe Uganda for equipping young people with practical, income-generating skills, urging graduates to put their training to work: "It is time to make money."
The Office of the Prime Minister Uganda representative also attended and pledged continued support to ensure these interventions carry on well beyond the life of the project.

Perhaps the most encouraging part? Even before graduation, several youths had already begun earning from their newly acquired skills in their home communities proof that the SIR Project is achieving exactly what it set out to do.

The SIR Project is implemented by PALM Corps (other partners - Community Empowerment for Rural Development-CEFORD Uganda, GRTR-Uganda, and in partnership with Welthungerhilfe Uganda with funding from Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) across Terego, Madi Okollo, and Yumbe Districts.

This Monday, we officially kicked off the AMUTI Transdisciplinary Summer School 2026 at represented by our Executive Director Dr. Anyanzo Abbey Thomas. It is inspiring to see students, academics, and practitioners from Uganda and Austria come together under one roof.

We are focusing on what matters most: turning diverse perspectives into practical solutions for natural resource governance in areas hosting refugees particularly in Terego District.

A huge appreciation to our partners, University and Muni University, for making this vibrant exchange of knowledge possible.

For Chandiga Isaac, a young refugee in Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement, six months of hands-on catering training became more than a classroom experience it opened a pathway to work.

Through the SIR Project, funded by Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through and implemented by PALM Corps & 3 other partners, young refugees and host community members are gaining practical skills, life skills, and internship opportunities that support their transition into employment and self-reliance.

Chandiga is now among more than 70 youth from the first cohort who secured industrial training placements and retention, proving that when young people are equipped with the right skills, opportunity can follow.
