Today, Hope Foundation is honored to conduct an exchange visit to Yumbe District to engage with the Youth Defenders Hub, an initiative generously financed by our partners at the Network for Active Citizens.
This visit is a vital learning opportunity aimed at understanding the strategies being employed to promote and protect human rights among young people in Yumbe. Through meaningful discussions and interactions, we are drawing important lessons on how community-based structures like defender hubs can empower youth to become active agents of change.
During this exchange, we also took time to identify and reflect on the human rights violations affecting the people of Yumbe. These include challenges such as limited access to education, youth unemployment, land disputes, and gender-based violence—issue that unfortunately mirror the realities we face in Arua City. This comparison helps us appreciate the shared struggles of our communities and strengthens our resolve to advocate for justice, equity, and human dignity.
We are grateful for the presence of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Yumbe District, along with other distinguished stakeholders, who have shown commitment to promoting peace, protecting rights, and engaging with grassroots efforts.
As Hope Foundation, we remain committed to building a strong, informed, and rights-conscious youth movement. Together, through collaboration, shared knowledge, and sustained action, we can confront violations and build safer, more just communities across the region.
