The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Disinformation (APPG on Disinformation) — a group bringing together politicians across the spectrum to tackle one of the most urgent threats of our time: online disinformation.

Their mission? To strengthen resilience against false and misleading narratives, support evidence-based policy, and partner with experts, media, and civil society to protect honest, democratic debate.

The words of a Ukrainian former POW guest speaker — whose story helped show the real human cost behind digital propaganda. It’s a powerful reminder: fighting disinformation isn’t just about facts and data. It’s about people!

In Milan, at an event held within the project, the participants broke through fakes and spoke the truth.

🇺🇦🇪🇺 Важлива адвокаційна зустріч у штаб-квартирі НАТО!

В рамках проєкту «Адвокаційні зустрічі для протидії російській пропаганді та дезінформації в країнах Європи» та на запрошення Місії України при НАТО відбулася зустріч з профільними представниками Північноатлантичного Альянсу.

Українські експерти та медійники поділилися досвідом боротьби з російською інформаційною агресією:

🟡 Галина Петренко (ГО «Детектор медіа») розповіла, як російські окупанти продовжують інформаційний терор проти українців на тимчасово окупованих територіях.

🟡 Альона Мишакова презентувала дослідження мереж російської дезінформації в окремих країнах Європи.

🟡 Михайло Данканич показав, як дезінформація з інформаційного простору переходить у фізичний – на прикладі історій полонених, яким намагалися промити мізки росіяни.

Дякуємо Місії України при НАТО та партнерам з Альянсу за можливість донести правду про російську гібридну війну та спільно шукати ефективні інструменти протидії.

Разом ми сильніші 💪

🇺🇦🇪🇺 An important advocacy meeting at NATO Headquarters!

As part of the project “Advocacy Meetings to Counter Russian Propaganda and Disinformation in European Countries” and at the invitation of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, a meeting was held with relevant representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Ukrainian experts and media professionals shared their experience in combating Russian information aggression:

🟡 Halyna Petrenko (NGO Detector Media) spoke about how Russian occupiers continue their informational terror against Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories.
🟡 Aliona Myshakova presented research on networks of Russian disinformation in certain European countries.
🟡 Mykhailo Dankanych demonstrated how disinformation from the information space spills over into the physical world—using examples of stories from prisoners whose minds the Russians attempted to manipulate.

We thank the Mission of Ukraine to NATO and our partners in the Alliance for the opportunity to convey the truth about Russia’s hybrid war and to jointly seek effective tools for countering it.

Together we are stronger 💪

Спадщину не знаходять, її створюють.
Спадщина - це про створення додаткової вартості. Навіть монетизації. Це - ексклюзив і цінність для багатьох.

Свідчення - це процес адвокації. Це для публіки, яка мусить визнати цю правду: спільну і гідну. Це акт проговорення на публіку, вписування у загальний світовий контекст.

А свідчення війни досі недостатньо включені у світовий контекст. Але саме вони дають нам можливість відчути, побачити тригер, який запускає процес мислення.

During the Summer Institute “Testimonies of the War against Ukraine: Cultural Heritage for Future Landscapes of Memory” (WWSI 2025), Eleonora Narvselius and Oksana Dovgopolova spoke about testimonies of war as an important part of cultural heritage that shapes collective memory and reflects the values of society.

Heritage is not found, it is created.
Heritage is about creating additional value. Even monetization. It is exclusive and valuable for many.

Testimony is a process of advocacy. It is for the public, which must recognize this truth: common and worthy. It is an act of speaking out to the public, of fitting into the general world context.

And testimonies of war are still not sufficiently included in the world context. But they give us the opportunity to feel, to see the trigger that starts the thinking process.
