Global Refuge released a report warning that thousands of Ukrainians living legally in the U.S. could soon lose work authorization and lawful status.

Four years ago today, the world we knew shattered.

On February 24, 2022, russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. What the Kremlin thought would take three days has now lasted four years. Four years of sirens. Four years of funerals. Four years of mothers waiting for calls that never come. Four years of children learning the sound of missiles before they learn to write.

Four years of unimaginable loss — and unimaginable courage.

On behalf of Wisconsin Ukrainians, Inc., we bow our heads in memory of every life stolen by this brutal war. Soldiers. Medics. Volunteers. Fathers. Daughters. Entire families erased. Cities reduced to rubble. Dreams interrupted by explosions.

But Ukraine did not fall.

Ukraine stood.

Because of the bravery of its defenders.
Because of the resilience of its people.
Because freedom is not given — it is fought for.

For four years, our community here in Wisconsin has organized, advocated, fundraised, prayed, protested, called elected officials, and refused to let Ukraine be forgotten. We have sent humanitarian aid. We have supported prosthetics for wounded warriors. We have welcomed refugees. We have raised our voices again and again — because silence is not an option.

There are days when it feels heavy. When it feels like no matter how much we do, it is not enough. But then we remember the faces of soldiers holding the equipment you helped purchase. The children in safe camps. The families who found refuge. The blue and yellow flags raised high even under fire.

Ukraine is still standing.

And so are we.

Today, we ask you to pause. To remember. To honor. To recommit.

Різдво — це про тепло, яке ми створюємо власними діями.

Цей рік був непростим. Але саме він ще раз показав, якою сильною стає спільнота, коли діє серцем. Ротарійці по всій Україні були поруч — у громадах, лікарнях, школах, поруч із дітьми, родинами захисників, тими, кому було важко і страшно.

Це були тисячі проєктів і ще більше годин волонтерської праці. Безліч рук, які допомагали, підтримували, відновлювали. Кожен клуб, кожен партнер, кожен ротарієць став частиною великої справи — тримати людей і країну.

Дякуємо всім, хто цього року не зупинився, хто знаходив сили діяти з турботою, відповідальністю й вірою в людей.

Нехай це Різдво принесе тепло в наші домівки, а новий рік — сили продовжувати робити добро разом.

As we gather to celebrate this holiday season, let us take a moment to cherish the presence of our loved ones and express gratitude for the peace and abundance we enjoy. At the same time, may we hold in our thoughts those across the world enduring the hardships of war, famine, and strife, extending our compassion and hope for a more peaceful future. Wishing you a meaningful and reflective holiday.

Збираючись разом у цей святковий час, давайте знайдемо мить, щоб цінувати присутність наших близьких і висловити вдячність за мир та достаток, які ми маємо. Водночас згадаймо в думках тих у різних куточках світу, хто переживає труднощі війни, голоду та конфліктів, і спрямуймо до них наше співчуття та надію на більш мирне майбутнє. Бажаю вам змістовних і сповнених роздумів свят.

Rotary District 6220 has received a direct request for help from the president of Rotary Club Ternopil City, Yevhen Loza, for financial assistance to see to the immediate needs of affected families. These donations are needed desperately and will be immediately used for the purchase of:
- warm clothing and footwear;
- food supplies and baby food;
- medications and dressing materials;
- hygiene products and essential household items
- temporary shelter and other necessary items as requested as this situation continues to unfold.

Please donate any amount you can.

100% of every contribution will be collected by Packerland Sunrise Rotary Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Rotary District 6220 authorized to receive donations in the United States for the Ukrainian Relief Task Force, and will then be sent directly and in-full to Ukraine Rotary District 2232 Foundation for the immediate purchase of these necessary supplies.

Rotary District 6220 stands firmly with District 2232, Rotary Club Ternopil City, and most importantly, the displaced families and victims of this horrible act of violence.

Search and rescue in Ternopil has ended.

Over four days, 33 people were confirmed dead, including 6 children.

94 were injured (18 children) and 46 were rescued (7 children).

Six people, including one child, are still missing.
