The second part of Chris Grady’s visit to Ukraine continues in Lviv✨

During our 2 days, we:
• Met with the representative of the new British Embassy office in Lviv. It was a wonderfully insightful meeting.
• Kateryna Hradnova-Savytska has kindly invited us to visit Superhumans Center, where we’ve met with Kateryna’s husband, Mykola Hradnov-Savytskyi and witnessed his rehabilitation process. Superhumans is a nationwide modern center for war trauma, specialising in prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation, and psychological support for adults and children affected by the war since 2022. They provide all services for free, but it’s a charity that exists thanks to generous donations, and it needs more kind donors and supporters to keep their doors open
• Fantastic, inspiring and transformative experience during a meeting with Mykola Naboka while exploring Мистецьке Обʼєднання «Хвиля». It’s truly a magical place where body meets soul and creativity, while reconnecting with our heritage and history and looking to the future of performance art.
• Our last meeting was with a dancer Olena Mytsko and a choreographer Oleksii Busko. We’ve heard some exciting ideas and wish them all the best with turning them into reality

It’s Chris’s first visit to Ukraine, and we are honoured and grateful to be a part of this journey. Thank you for your time, energy and support for our country💙💛

It’s an honour to facilitate Chris Grady’s visit to Ukraine💙💛

Chris Grady - a facilitator, workshop leader and trainer specialising in the support of the next generation of creative producers and practitioners. He works nationally and internationally. Chris collaborates with associates across the world on the development of new training and development paths for theatre producers and theatre makers. Founder of CGO Institute.

During 1-3 March, we met with:

• Kristina Kisielovaitė (producer)

Chris saw “Cabaret” at Molodyy Theatre and “Tartuffe” at Franko Theatre. We also had a fantastic informal networking event at the Bez Dverey Espresso Bar filled with energetic and inspiring actors, directors, producers, etc.

NUD 2025: результати проєкту ✨

Ми це зробили! Шість подій, десятки спікерів з України та Великої Британії, сотні учасників і безліч важливих тем, які звучали щиро, сміливо та професійно.
Протягом липня ми провели п’ять змістовних та надихаючих онлайн-воркшопів: продюсування, інклюзивність та доступність, імерсивний театр, стейдж менеджмент, драматургія. Проєкт завершився нетворкінгом у із перформансами, створеними самими учасниками прямо під час заходу.

Це був простір для обміну ідеями та пошуку потенційних форматів співпраці.
Ми вчилися, ділилися, сміялися, дискутували, творили разом.

NUD 2025: project’s results ✨

We did it!
Six events, dozens of speakers from Ukraine and the UK, hundreds of participants, and countless important topics discussed sincerely, boldly, and professionally.
Throughout July, we held five informative and inspiring online workshops: producing, inclusivity & accessibility, immersive theatre, stage management, playwriting & dramaturgy. The project concluded with networking at The Theatre of Playwrights with performances created by the participants during the event.
It was a space for exchanging ideas and exploring potential collaboration opportunities. We learned, shared, laughed, discussed, and created together.

✍️ Як пройшов п’ятий воркшоп проєкту NUD 2025?

21 липня ми провели п’ятий воркшоп у межах проєкту «NUD 2025: Residency & Networking», присвячений основам драматургії.

Спікери говорили про структуру драматичного твору, актуальні теми та різницю між автором п’єси та літературним едвайзером.
Максим Курочкін і Джоуел Самюелс, драматурги з України та Великої Британії, поділилися своїм досвідом, інструментами та різними підходами до написання п’єс.
Говорили про нові голоси в театрі, а також про виклики, з якими стикаються автори у своїй щоденній роботі.

Учасники відзначили глибину, щирість і професійність обох спікерів, практичність матеріалів та відкритий діалог.
Було не тільки інформативно, а й емоційно, деякі моменти справді «боліли».
Саме такі зустрічі створюють простір для взаєморозуміння та співпраці.

✍️ How was the fifth workshop as part of the NUD 2025?

On July 21, we held the fifth workshop as part of the ‘NUD 2025: Residency & Networking’ project, dedicated to the fundamentals of playwriting and dramaturgy.

The speakers talked about the structure of a dramatic work, current topics in contemporary theatre, and the difference between a playwright and a dramaturg.

Maksym Kurochkin and Joel Samuels, playwrights from Ukraine and the United Kingdom, shared their experiences, tools, and different approaches to writing plays. They discussed the new voices in theatre and the challenges playwrights face in their daily work.
The participants noticed the depth, sincerity, and professionalism of both speakers, the practicality of the materials, and the open dialogue. It was not only informative but also emotional, with some truly painful moments. It is precisely such meetings that create space for mutual understanding and cooperation.

Як пройшов четвертий воркшоп проєкту NUD 2025?

17 липня ми провели четвертий онлайн-воркшоп проєкту «NUD 2025: Residency & Networking», присвячений стейдж-менеджменту.

Учасники дізналися про структуру театрального проєкту зсередини: система менеджменту, хто такий стейдж-менеджер, які обов’язки виконує, якою документацією користується, та чим стейдж-менеджер відрізняється від помічника режисера.

Спікери з Великої Британії та України поділилися досвідом із національних та міжнародних проєктів, розповіли про театральні системи різних країн, а також про те, як зробити творчий процес керованим і злагодженим.
Особливу атмосферу створили спікери, які щиро ділилися практичними кейсами, наочними матеріалами, а також власними спостереженнями та викликами.
Дякуємо нашим спікерам за відкритість, глибину та енергію!

🎭 How was the fourth workshop as part of the NUD 2025?

On July 17, we held the fourth online workshop dedicated to stage management as part of the ‘NUD 2025: Residency & Networking’ project.

The participants learned about the structure of a theatre project from the inside: what is a stage management system? Who is a stage manager? What are their responsibilities? What documentation do they use, and how does a stage manager position differ in the UK and Ukraine?
The speakers from the UK and Ukraine shared their experiences from national and international projects, talked about theatre systems in different countries, and how to make the creative process manageable and coordinated.
The speakers created a special atmosphere by sincerely sharing practical cases, visual materials, as well as their own observations and challenges.

✨Як пройшов офлайн-нетворкінг івент проєкту NUD 2025?

23 липня ми завершили програму NUD 2025 і зробили це у форматі живого нетворкінгу, який став місцем зустрічі, взаємодії й обміном досвіду.

Митці-початківці зібралися у Театрі Драматургів разом із досвідченими представниками сфери перформативного мистецтва, щоб обговорити виклики галузі, знайти точки перетину та потенційні формати співпраці.

Захід почався з привітання від команди NUD, представників Британської Ради в Україні і партнерів події, відеозвернення від британських колег, які, хоч і дистанційно, передали свою підтримку та солідарність.

Далі на учасників чекав фасилітований нетворкінг: ми розбивалися на малі групи, обговорювали актуальні теми та потенціал колаборацій між Україною та Великою Британією. Після цього міні-перформанси, створені учасниками буквально за пів години. Покази вийшли щирими, несподіваними, абсолютно різними.

Це був нетворкінг, де поєдналися мистецтво, спілкування й досвід.
Дякуємо кожному за участь у NUD 2025!



How was the NUD 2025 offline networking event?

On July 23, we wrapped up the NUD 2025 program with a live networking event that became a place for meeting, interaction and experience exchange.

The emerging artists gathered at The Theatre of Playwrights together with experienced performing arts representatives to discuss the challenges within the field, find common ground, and potential collaboration formats.  

The event began with an introduction from the NUD team, British Council Ukraine representatives, event partners, and video messages from British colleagues who, even remotely, expressed their unwavering support and solidarity.

Afterwards, a facilitated networking: participants broke into small groups, discussed current topics and the potential collaboration between Ukraine and the UK. This was followed by mini-performances created by the participants in just half an hour. The performances were sincere, unexpected, unique.

It was a networking event where art, communication and experience came together as one. Thanks to everyone who took part in NUD 2025

Поринули в імерсивний театр на третьому воркшопі NUD 2025

Досліджували, як імерсивний театр може стати новим простором для залучення глядача. Такий формат дозволяє не просто дивитися виставу, а жити в її світі.

Oуен Кінґстон, продюсер та режисер, поділився як він заснував свою компанію Parabolic Theatre (). Анастасія Євченко, співзасновниця ГО «Нова українська драма», розповіла про імерсивну виставу “Cachés: clé à Dalí” () за мотивами роману Сальвадора Далі «Приховані обличчя».

Йшлося і про творчість, і про виклики: імпровізацію, фінансування, безпеку, реагування на поведінку глядачів. Спікери наголосили: обирати імерсивний формат варто лише тоді, коли історія потребує залучення глядача як учасника.

Це був потужний діалог про інновації, сюрреалізм і нові форми театру.

Immersive theatre at the 3rd NUD 2025 workshop

We explored how immersive theatre can become a new space for audience engagement. This format lets you live the performance, not just watch it.

Producer and director Owen Kingston shared how he founded Parabolic Theatre. Anastasiya Yevchenko (New Ukrainian Drama) talked about the immersive show “Cachés: clé à Dalí” (), based on Salvador Dali’s novel Hidden Faces.

They spoke not just about creativity, but also challenges: improvisation, funding, safety, and responding to audience behaviour. Both noted: immersive theatre works only when the story needs the audience to participate.

A powerful dialogue on innovation, surrealism, and new theatre formats.

Катерина Граднова-Савицька, продюсерка театру та кіно, для якої театр – це дія, позиція та відповідальність.

Сьогодні розповідаємо історію жінки, яка все своє професійне життя створювала інклюзивний театр, а досвід чоловіка, військовослужбовця та ветерана з інвалідністю, лише посилив бачення та вимоги до цього питання.
Катерина за освітою та основним видом діяльності продюсерка кіно, але ще в студенстві почала кар’єру театральної продюсерки. Протягом п’яти років у Театрі на Лівому березі, Катерина разом із командою реалізували десятки проєктів локального і міжнародного рівня.

Kateryna Hradnova-Savytska: a film and theatre producer, for whom theatre is action, position, and responsibility.
Today, we tell the story of a woman who spent her entire professional life creating inclusive theatre, and the experience of her husband, a military serviceman and veteran with disabilities, only strengthened the vision and necessary requirements regarding this matter.
Kateryna’s degree and main activity is film, but she began her career as a theatre producer while still a student. Over the last five years, alongside the Left Bank Theatre team in Kyiv, Kateryna has implemented dozens of local and international projects.
