LIVING HOPE SOUP KITCHEN - MONTH IN REVIEW
Through June we had a number of highlights:
7 JULY - Slavic gave his testimony as the Gospel outreach during the feeding. He is a 24 year old man who is currently living at the New Life Rehab-Adaptation Center. He has volunteered with us at the soup kitchen for several months.
14 JULY - While Laura was out sick, we had some new volunteers from New Life church help with the feeding: Associate Pastor Vitaliy, his wife Tonya and their 3 children (Mark, Adrian, & Dana), Olena, and Masha. Long time volunteer, Leonid S, was the speaker that day.
21 JULY - Over the past 2 weeks, there had been an electrical problem in the business complex where we rent our space for the soup kitchen. Every time we tried to use our large soup pot within 5-10 minutes we'd lose electricity as the automatic switch at the main complex electrical box would flip off.
Due to this issue still not being resolved, we decided to not even try to struggle to use the soup pot. We ended up only serving salad, cookies, croissants, and bread, giving them out as the guests arrived.
Although we didn't get to present the Gospel in a group setting we got a lot of one-on-one time with each guest, which was priceless.
28 JULY - Not knowing if the electrical issue had been resolved or not, we choose to cook up a casserole at home to serve in place of the soup & buckwheat. It was a huge hit with the guests. And, we discovered the electrical issue had been resolved so we'll cook up soup at the next feeding. Laura gave the Gospel message using the Bible story of the 10 lepers.

In the animal kitchen is where we prepare the feed for our laying hens and broiler/meat chickens. Laura shares about our grain grinder and barrels, as well as the specialty feed we use.
Our chickens produce eggs and meat that we use to feed people and help other ministries that also feed and share God's love.

We have a variety of fruit trees . . . from apples to sweet cherries to sour cherries to pears and more. We also have currants and strawberries, and soon we'll have raspberries back in the garden.
All this fruit is used to make homemade juice called 'compote' which we serve at the Living Hope Soup Kitchen as well as other places. Sometimes the fruit is used to make desserts too.

Mark shares about the camp we attended at Noah's Ark that reaches out to the mothers, wives and children of Ukrainian soldiers who have died in the war.
Sharing our American dessert with them resulted in many smiles and happy taste-buds.

Why is food and feeding people in Ukraine so important? Laura shares about the suffering Ukraine has endured in the past century, especially the forced famine by Stalin that killed millions.
Because of this history, food has a special place in Ukrainian life, which means it is a beautiful way to share God's light and love with people here.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
We were designated the missions challenge focus for El Camino Baptist Church's VBS (Sacramento CA).
The 'Change for Change' fund raiser occurred during VBS where children brought in change to donate to our ministry.
We provided a number of videos to them to use with the children & teens sharing how we help people here in Ukraine by shining God's light through feeding others. You can find these videos on our YouTube channel (Heart of Ukraine Ministries) and we'll share them on our Facebook channel as well.

BAPTISM CELEBRATION
Life Church celebrated four baptism on Saturday July 4th, one of which was Illia, the young man who came and worked at our house twice in order to raise money for his youth camp.
We were not able to attend the baptism, but we did get to celebrate with the church on Sunday.
