January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day 🕯 On this day, Hillel CASE members came together to remember, reflect on, and pass on the memory of the tragedy that claimed the lives of more than 6 million Jews. Through personal stories, meetings, films, exhibitions, and moments of silence, we talked about pain, responsibility, and the importance of remembering ✡️
▫️Hillel Baku held an intimate memorial meeting. Participants learned the story of two sisters, Sarah and Hana, whose fates served as a profound and personal reminder that behind the numbers are real people and broken lives.
▫️Participants from Hillel Lviv / Гілель Львів joined the city's memorial events, taking part in ceremonies at the monument to the victims of the Lviv Ghetto and at the site of the former Yanivsky concentration camp — as a sign of remembrance, mourning, and respect.
▫️In Hillel Kharkiv/ Гілель Харків, the gathering became a quiet, powerful space of remembrance. The young people discussed the life of the Jewish community before 1941 and lit candles. They ended the evening with a symbolic practice involving a red thread — as a sign of the connection between generations and the responsibility to pass on this memory.
▫️Hillel Kyiv / Гілель Київ hosted a special screening of the Oscar-winning film Zone of Interest at the Zhovten cinema. The restrained and profound film provided an opportunity for reflection on the tragedy and an important internal dialogue.
▫️Hillel Odesa / Гілель Одеса hosted an interactive exhibition, «Rabbis Who Survived the Holocaust,» featuring real-life stories, unique photos, and videos that allowed visitors to delve deeper into the subject and truly connect with the memory. Students also joined the citywide events.
