Office machinery mechanic Emil Henriksson invented the ABLOY detainer disc cylinder in 1907. Sales of the lock started two years after the invention. In 1918 ,the company called Ab Låsfabriken – Lukkotehdas Oy (shortened: Ab Lukko Oy) was established, and the trademark was created as an abbreviation from the initials. Emil would hardly have imagined that after a 100 years, locking solutions based on his invention would be sold in 90 countries around the world. The story or Abloy is a success story based on a lot of work and faith in our efforts and quality. It has required constant regeneration and development. Today, we serve a wide range of customers from consumers to high-end projects. This demands an extremely wide expertise and in-depth understanding of the world around us, because security and safety mean a lot of different thing in different countries.
