Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club

Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club Rotary Club Kyiv Multinational is the English-speaking Rotary club in Kyiv Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club was founded in 2006. And you can be part of it.

We are a small English speaking club with split Ukrainian/Expat membership. Over the years, we have had more than 50 expats pass through while maintaining an average membership of 15-20. Since 2006, we have realised 20 major projects around Ukraine. From putting a baby incubator in a remote regional hospital in the Carpathians in the West, sponsored operations for 10 children with celebral palsy i

n Kievan North, put computers in schools on the contact line less than 10 kilometres from the Russian border and we are working with orphanages in Southern Odessa. We are a small gang of volunteers – but in our projects, we have managed to improve the life prospect and outlook of almost one thousand children and have touched more than five thousand. Baby lives have been saved, 10 year old children have started walked for the first time, doctors have been trained, career opportunities have been opened and we have shown thousands of unfortunate children that the world cares about them. That may actually be our most important result. Our partners in Ukraine are the best. And we know where every hryvna is spent. For bigger muscle and more money, we work with Rotary clubs outside Ukraine – for instance in the US, Sweden, Germany, Denmark and even Brazil. Right now and in the last few years, the future life path of almost one child per day has been improved by our efforts.

Yesterday, Kyiv endured another heavy assault. Waves of drones and missiles rained down for hours, tearing lives apart and leaving grief behind. Among the victims was a young girl — a reminder of the unbearable cruelty of this war.

Yet even in the shadow of such pain, our Rotary Club refuses to stand still. We remain in service — shaping and driving projects that bring real support to children, families, and veterans who carry the weight of these times.

Our project calendar is more than a plan; it is a statement of resilience. From sustaining Maria House, to seasonal initiatives for children, to our Flagship Project for veterans — each effort is proof that hope and action outlive fear and destruction.

💙 We invite you to discover our plans and, if your heart moves you, to stand with us in strengthening them. You can contact us directly here in Messenger or via email — together, we resist, and together, we make a difference.

📚✨ 1st of September – the Beginning of the School Year ✨📚

Despite the challenges of war and constant air attacks on Kyiv, thousands of children returned to school this week, eager to continue their education. For many families, preparing for school is a heavy burden, as war always brings economic difficulties and even the basics like copybooks, pens, and pencils become a big expense.

Our club continues to stand by those who need support most. For the start of the school year, we donated all the necessary school supplies to The Maria House orphanage — and to add some joy, we included sweets to bring bright moments to the children on this special day. 💙💛

Last week, our Club marked a very special occasion — the presidential handover from Kseniia Serdyuk, President 2024–2025, to Oleksandr Chugai, who will lead the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club in 2025–2026.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Kseniia for her impeccable leadership, unwavering dedication, and the many important projects accomplished under her guidance throughout the year. Your presidency has been a time of growth, impact, and inspiration — thank you!

We also warmly welcome Oleksandr as our incoming President and wish him inspiration, strength, and continued success as he begins this new chapter of service and leadership. The club stands behind you!

The meeting was joined by club members and friends from various countries — both in person and online — adding to the truly multinational spirit of the event.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognitions to three outstanding individuals whose service reflects the core values of Rotary:

🌟 Jesper Lindholt
A member of our club since 2008, Jesper received his fourth Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Quietly and steadily, he has been a consistent supporter of people, projects, and peace in Ukraine. We are honored to recognize his longstanding and heartfelt commitment to service.

🌟 Daria Ulianova
For many years, Daria has led our Interact Club with vision and passion. Her ability to inspire youth and live out Rotary values has helped raise a new generation of compassionate and active leaders. Her impact is profound and deeply appreciated.

🌟 Anatolii Osadchii
A cornerstone of our club since 2019, Anatolii has served in numerous leadership roles, including President (2022–2024), Vice President, Treasurer, and Chair of both Foundation and Service Projects. His energy, dedication, and exceptional networking have helped bring many impactful initiatives to life.

Congratulations to all awardees, and thank you for embodying the spirit of Rotary!

Let us move forward together into the new Rotary year — united in fellowship, service, and hope. 💙💛🌍

Rotary is about unity, action, and compassion. We are pleased to share the successful implementation of the humanitarian project "Ambulances from Austria", through which four ambulances have been delivered to Ukrainian regions heavily affected by the war.

The project was initiated by Rotary Club Wien-Schönbrunn (Austria) in partnership with Rotary Club Klosterneuburg, Rotary Сlub UZHGOROD/Ротарі Клуб Ужгород, our host club RC Kyiv Multinational, and the charitable foundation "Dopomoha Vchasno", which ensured customs clearance and logistics.

The ambulances have been handed over to support medical teams in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Sumy regions, where they are saving lives under daily shelling.

We are especially grateful to Anatolii Osadchyi , the project coordinator, for his dedicated leadership throughout the entire process.

Special recognition also goes to Rotarian Dmytro Maksymenko, Director of the ICF "Gift of Life" - МБФ "Дар Життя", whose support made it possible to repair a broken-down ambulance and deliver it to the Krasnopillia community in Sumy region—a frontline area facing constant attacks.

Additionally, our sincere thanks to Oleksandr Chugai, who maintained communication with the Krasnopillia community and local hospital, ensuring a smooth and effective transfer of the vehicle to those who needed it most.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all members of the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club for their unwavering support of this initiative. Your commitment made this project a reality.

Together, through service, we bring hope and healing closer.

We did it — together! 💙💛

This Easter, the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club came together to support a beautiful initiative launched by our fellow Rotarian Victoria Markstedt — to bring some joy to families in Kyiv raising children with cerebral palsy.

Thanks to your generosity and big hearts, we raised around 115,000 UAH! 🎉
That means 65 families received Easter food packages, and 6 families got additional financial support. 🧺✨

These families are among the most vulnerable in our community, and your support brought real warmth and comfort into their homes this holiday season.

Huge thanks to everyone who donated, shared our post, or simply cheered us on.
Once again, we showed that Service Above Self isn't just a motto — it's something we live by.

Since 2008, the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club has upheld the motto "Service Above Self."
One of our long-term projects supports families raising children with cerebral palsy (CP). Thanks to Rotary partners across Europe, many children received life-changing surgeries and rehabilitation. Some even took their first steps.

Over the years, we’ve continued organizing meaningful activities—summer trips, garden parties, and holiday celebrations—that bring joy to these amazing children and their families. Today, about 80 families in Kyiv receive regular support: food, clothing, toys, and small financial assistance. We aim to increase this number to 100.

This Easter, we plan to provide food packages for 75 families.

Today marks three years since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Three years of hardship, loss, and challenges—but also three years of incredible resilience, unity, and unwavering support from people around the world.

As a Rotary Club, we have witnessed firsthand the power of compassion and service. We have stood with our communities, providing humanitarian aid, supporting displaced families, and offering hope where it is needed most.

We are grateful for our fellow Rotarians, partners, and friends across the globe who continue to stand with Ukraine. Your solidarity and commitment make a difference every day.

Let us honor the courage of those who defend our country, remember those we have lost, and continue working towards a future of peace, justice, and hope.

At our recent meeting, the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club had the distinct honor of celebrating an extraordinary individual and cornerstone of our community—Roman Shwed.

Born in Lviv in 1940, Roman’s early years were marked by the hardships of World War II. He and his family navigated the challenges of displaced persons camps before embarking on a journey to the United States, eventually settling in Philadelphia. Despite these early adversities, Roman pursued his passion for architecture, graduating from Drexel University in 1974. His career flourished in Philadelphia and Florida, but his deep connection to his homeland remained. In 1994, Roman returned to Ukraine, embracing it as his true home.

As one of the founding members of the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club, Roman has dedicated over 17 years to fostering a spirit of unity and service. Serving as Club President in 2007-2008 and 2011-2012, and later as Club Foundation Chair from 2012-2016, Roman exemplified leadership and inspired countless initiatives that have made a difference in Ukraine and beyond. Since 2019, he continues to guide and inspire us as an Honorary Member.

This week, we proudly celebrated Roman’s second Paul Harris Fellow recognition—a reflection of his tireless dedication to Rotary’s ideals and his invaluable contributions to our mission. Roman Shwed’s kindness, wisdom, and generosity have left an indelible mark on our club and the lives of so many.

Roman, on behalf of the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club, we thank you for being a beacon of service and an inspiration to all. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

Let’s all join in celebrating Roman Shwed’s achievements and his lasting legacy in the Rotary community! 🎉
