Back at PSI πŸ’™πŸŽ“

This week, we were glad to welcome back Georgiy (George) Kent, a PSI Graduate from the Class of 2018, who returned to campus to speak with our students.

Georgiy shared memories of his time at PSI with Zina Volkova, his Grade 11 homeroom teacher, during a conversation held in the C Building shelter during an air alert β€” a powerful reflection of life and learning in Ukraine today.

Now working in international relations in Washington, D.C., Georgiy spoke with Grade 10 and 11 students about his work to support Ukraine and shared insights on geopolitics in Eastern Europe. He also reflected on his personal roots and his long-standing interest in Crimea πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦, which he explored in his DP Extended Essay at PSI.

It was a meaningful visit and a special moment to welcome a PSI alumnus back to campus.

A throwback to an unforgettable evening in January. More than 30 alumni showed up for our recent reunion β€” planning their trips, adjusting their diaries, crossing cities and borders just to be there.

Seeing so many familiar faces in one room was a beautiful reminder that PSI is never just a chapter. It’s a lifelong thread. You all carry the Panther spirit wherever you are, and it means more than you know to see you thriving in your own unique ways. πŸ’™

2026 is the new 2016. 😁 We love this trend!

Ten years ago, we were right in the middle of our Phase II construction project. That moment in time brought us what is now Building A: a swimming pool, a brand-new Early Years Centre, and specialised spaces that continue to shape daily life at PSI - Drama rooms, an Arts studio, science labs, and our beloved auditorium, where community events, performances, and music fill the air.

A little footnote we still smile about: in 2019, this very project was nominated for the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award. It was recognised for its blend of innovation and tradition - thoughtfully connecting to the existing school while embracing new ideas in education.

We believe - and know - that good things take time.
Pechersk School International is 30 years old, and it still feels like the beginning of our story.

This spring and summer, PSI students took part in several meaningful service learning actions to support those defending Ukraine. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦

βœ… For the Volunteer Centre Osokorky, located on the left bank of Kyiv, we donated materials for camouflage nets, clothing for wounded soldiers, and essential medical equipment. Part of this support was made possible by proceeds from our Art to Hearts charity auction.

Each parcel included brochures made by our students β€” collections of handwritten letters and drawings, carrying small messages of gratitude and strength across the frontlines.

βœ… At the same time, our community sent tourniquets and clothing to a frontline hospital in the east of Ukraine, where wounded soldiers receive their first medical care. These boxes travelled through Nova Poshta, carefully prepared and packed with intention.

Today, we are sharing two short messages β€” one from a soldier and one from a doctor β€” who received this support. Their words remind us that service learning is not abstract; it is real action with real impact.

From PSI to those protecting Ukraine: thank you. We stand with you. πŸ™

Just before the winter holidays, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Olesia, a PSI alumna from the Class of 2018. πŸŽ“βœ¨

Her younger sister Sofia, from the Class of 2025, is another special member of our community! πŸ’™

It’s always wonderful to see how PSI remains a place where we belong for families across generations.

We wish all of our alumni a joyful and restful time with their loved ones over the winter holidays. See you in 2025! πŸŽ„

It was a pleasure to welcome back our alumna Oleksandra earlier this month 😊. She joined PSI in 2013 and was part of our community for much of her academic journey before leaving due to the start of the full-scale invasion. It was truly special to reconnect and see how far she’s come, remembering the bonds that make PSI more than just a school β€” it’s a place where we belong πŸ’™πŸ’›.

We wish you all the best, Oleksandra! Good luck in completing your studies, and we hope to see you soon! 🌟

We were honoured to welcome back Danylo S, PSI Class of 2018 graduate and now a 2nd Lieutenant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ’™ During his visit, Danylo spent time with students across the whole school, sharing his journey since graduation.

In a special session with our High School students, Danylo spoke about his experiences in the Diploma Programme at PSI, offering valuable insights into how it prepared him for life beyond school. He also shared stories of his service, inspiring our students and community members with his resilience and dedication.

It was a memorable day for our community, and we are so proud of Danylo’s achievements both as a PSI alum and in his service to Ukraine.

Who are they - PSI Alumni?

Our ongoing relationships with #AlumniPSIKyiv are important to us and we strive to maintain and nurture them as part of our extended PSI community.

The PSI Alumni Association was established to enhance a continuing relationship between PSI and its former students and staff. For now, we have launched a brand new social platform for alumni where we will share our memories, photos, success stories, and future projects!

Over the years we continue to enjoy remarkable reunions at PSI when alumni students frequently return to the campus during the year to visit former students and staff.

#PSIKyiv enjoys to showcase and archive the whereabouts of its students and to hear of the successes of where they are and what they are up to!
