Global Call for Human Responsibility Day: where are we now?

Friends, almost a year ago, we launched a global initiative to establish Human Responsibility Day at the international level.
We have shared with you the story of this day in Ukraine, introduced the Declaration of Human Responsibilities, and presented our ambassadors. So – where are we now?

Over the past months, we have:
- held advocacy events and exhibitions thanks to our ambassadors in several countries, including the USA, Italy, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland.
- explored mechanisms for submitting petitions and other tools to introduce Human Responsibility Day internationally.
- shared the principles of human responsibilities with more than 20,000 people abroad.

The journey continues, and we believe that the idea of making human responsibility a shared value can unite people and nations across the globe. Thank you for following our work and standing with us in this mission 💚

Trust is the foundation of everything.

It is the foundation of any relationship — between people, brands, teams, partners. It is invisible, but it holds the strongest bridges. Without it, there will be no real dialogue, development or understanding.

Trust is not just about believing in someone or something. It is also a responsibility: to keep your word, not to let you down, to be consistent. We build everything on trust. And we try to be trustworthy ourselves.

Because only where there is trust are real ideas, partnerships and changes born.

It is very important that responsibility is known in every corner of the world, and let the planted sunflower be a symbol of this.

The Responsibility Marathon has come to an end, but this is no reason to stop being responsible. So take care of the environment and plant new sunflowers in your country for free.

Dear friends! If you have planted seeds of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn sunflower this year, you can send the collected seeds to us when the flowers grow.

To do so, please write to [email protected].

One of our ways to speak about the principles of human responsibilities is through art. The exhibition “Responsibilities We Share”, which we’ve presented in many European cities, uses the language of visuals to explore the responsibility in each person’s life.

Today, we’d like to share another artistic perspective at the intersection of history, memory and responsibility — an exhibition by members of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation community, and organizers of the “Walls to Witness: from Rwanda to Ukraine ” project Lidiia Moshevska and Bohdana Kapitsa.

The exhibition “Rwanda: The Genocide the World Was Silent About”, as part of this initiative, tells the story of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi people, drawing parallels with the 1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars.

The opening took place on July 1st with the participation of the Foundation’s Director, Marianna Yeleiko .

“It is through cooperation that truly meaningful, value-driven, and responsible initiatives are born – initiatives that deserve to be heard. The space of this exhibition, like that of a museum, invites exploration and reflection, offering parallels that deepen our understanding of global history – of the past and the present.”

The exhibition takes place on a permanent basis at Museum of the Genocide “Territory of Memory” Odessa, Ukraine Holocaust Museumin Odesa (10 Sadova St.).

Visit, learn and share your reflections!

Responsible people are leaders who create changes.

They are those who ask themselves: what can I do today?

To inspire others and remind themselves of the power of this choice, people from different countries joined this year’s Responsibility Marathon, an initiative of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation, in which each participant planted a sunflower as a symbol of personal growth and positive change.

People united to honour their identity, to remind about importance of action, and to prove that responsibility is a resource that opens the way to a dignified, conscious and just life.

We are grateful to the partners who organized thematic events for the Responsibility Marathon: and to every participant who joined.

Taking care of the environment means taking care of your own life.

Nature is not a resource, but the basis of our existence. Air, water, soil, climate — everything is interconnected. When we pollute or deplete nature, we harm ourselves: health, safety, and the future of our children.

It is our responsibility to take care of the environment, not because we are ‘supposed to’, but because we are part of this world. And only we decide whether we will leave it alive or devastated.

Follow eco-consciousness out of understanding: we have no other planet.

On 12 May Territory of Participation, together with Фонд Родини Богдана Гаврилишина / Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation and supported by Ukrainian Voices RC ,has successfully inagurated the travelling exhibition ‘Responsibilities We Share’ as a part of IX Responsibility Marathon in Brussels. This annual initiative is aimed to unite community and invite people to reflect on personal values, relationships and action.

Our colleague opened the event, presenting the founding father of Declaration of Human Responsibility, Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, and explaining the essential goals and the idea behind the Declaration and the marathon. Director of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation Marianna Yeleyko delivered an opening statement through a video message, while Ukrainian Voices RC’s President joined the opening in-person, highlighting the importance of shared values and shared actions to support them.

During the ceremony, participants planted sunflowers in a symbolic action to show their commitment to one of the principles shared in the Declaration. After that they had an opportunity to visit the travelling exhibition ‘Responsibilities We Share’ with 15 illustrations by Ukrainian artists of the Pictoric collective.

The exhibition will be open for visitors until 12 of June at the Ukrainian Voices RC. We encourage you to explore the exhibition and join us for the workshops:
