The Zionist Federation of Ukraine (ZFU) was established in December 2001 based on the principles of the Jerusalem program of the world Zionist organization. Recognizing and accepting the Jerusalem program, the Zionist Federation of Ukraine will coordinate their activities primarily with the following principles:
- Unity of Jewish people and the centrality of Israel in Jewish life

Gathering of the Jewish people in its historic homeland Eretz Yisrael through aliyah from all countries
- Strengthening of the State of Israel which is based on the prophetic vision of justice and peace
- Preservation of the identity of the Jewish people through the development of Zionist education, Hebrew and Yiddish and of Jewish spiritual and cultural values
- Widespread protection of the rights of Jews. The main goals and tasks of the Zionist Federation of Ukraine are:
- Full support to the unity of the Jewish community of Ukraine
- Assertion and implementation of the rights of Jews - citizens of Ukraine to their own national identity and culture
- Encouragement of the study and promotion of Zionist ideas in accordance with the principles of justice and peace
- Protection of the constitutional rights of Jews. Almost all the major Zionist parties and movements are represented in Ukraine. The emphasis is on youth and educational Zionist programs coordinated with the ZFU and often conducted jointly. The ZFU takes an active part in all the numerous actions in support of Israel in different cities of Ukrainian, heartily receive Israeli top leader while being in Ukraine on official visits. The Zionist lobby is able to provide the UN vote from Ukraine in support of Israel. The negotiations on visa-free entry into Israel and Ukraine for the citizens of both countries have been successfully completed. The number of air carriers flying between the two countries has increased to six. The monitored of the Ukrainian media covering Jewish and Israeli topic has been traditionally carried out, as well as the monitoring of anti-Jewish and anti-Israel speeches. In the summer of 2015, for the first time in the history of the Jewish community of Ukraine, delegates elected to the 37th Zionist Congress held in Jerusalem in October 2015. Following the election of 7 delegates from the five parties represented the Jewish community of Ukraine at the Congress. In the fall of 2015, after the elections, the organizational leadership of the ZFU changed. The new leadership of the ZFU has actively embarked on a number of projects and programs that would contribute to the strengthening of relations and ties between Ukraine and Israel, which include educational and other projects.
