We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of Monitoring 2026 Conference.

All elements of the programme were completed as planned — keynote presentations, panel discussions, technical sessions, poster presentations, and networking events. Most importantly, after many years of online meetings and virtual conferences, Monitoring 2026 became a true return to live professional communication.

This first in-person gathering after a long period of online format brought back what our community had missed most: real discussions, spontaneous conversations, meetings with longtime colleagues, and many new professional connections. The energy throughout the conference clearly showed how valuable personal interaction remains for science, industry, and collaboration.

We are very pleased to share that participants highly appreciated both the scientific programme and the warm atmosphere of the event. The Organising Committee is equally grateful and happy with the results of the conference.

Exploration in Times of Crisis: Lessons from Ukraine (DS-13)

The experience of Ukraine must be heard — on every possible international platform.

That is why, at the initiative of EAGE, the dedicated session DS-13: “Exploration in Times of Crisis: Lessons from Ukraine” has been created and will take place during the 75th Anniversary EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition, held in Aberdeen, UK, on 8–11 June 2026.

This session highlights the unique experience of conducting geological and geophysical exploration under crisis and wartime conditions. Despite unprecedented challenges — including security risks, logistical disruptions, and resource constraints — Ukrainian professionals continue advancing subsurface studies through adaptive strategies, innovative workflows, and the application of modern remote sensing, geophysical technologies, and digital tools.

The session will present real-world case studies demonstrating how exploration and monitoring can be successfully carried out in unstable or high-risk environments. These lessons are not only critical for Ukraine, but also highly relevant for regions worldwide facing natural, social, or geopolitical crises.

Розвідка в умовах кризи: уроки з України (DS-13)

Досвід України має бути почутий — на всіх можливих міжнародних майданчиках.

Саме тому за ініціативи EAGE створено спеціальну секцію DS-13 «Exploration in Times of Crisis: Lessons from Ukraine», яка відбудеться в рамках 75-ї ювілейної Щорічної конференції та виставки EAGE в Абердіні (Велика Британія) з 8 по 11 червня 2026 року.

Секція присвячена унікальному досвіду геологічних і геофізичних досліджень в умовах кризи та війни. Незважаючи на безпекові ризики, логістичні виклики та обмежені ресурси, українські фахівці продовжують розвідку надр, застосовуючи адаптивні підходи, інноваційні робочі процеси та сучасні технології дистанційного зондування, геофізики й цифрові інструменти.

У межах секції будуть представлені практичні кейси, що демонструють можливості проведення розвідки та моніторингу в нестабільних або високоризикових умовах. Цей досвід є важливим не лише для України, а й для регіонів світу, які стикаються з природними, соціальними або геополітичними кризами.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As we approach the end of the year, we look back with deep reflection and gratitude. The past years have continued to challenge Ukraine and its scientific community in ways that once seemed unimaginable. War has changed lives, reshaped priorities, and tested our resilience. Yet, despite all uncertainty, Ukrainian scientists continue to work, learn, teach, and contribute to global geoscience.

Throughout this difficult time, the support of EAGE has been unwavering. Free membership opportunities, open access to conferences and workshops, and strong international solidarity have allowed Ukrainian professionals and students to remain connected to the global scientific community. This support is not only practical — it is deeply symbolic and profoundly motivating.

Together, we have continued to build. Conferences such as GeoTerrace and Monitoring, as well as thematic workshops, have proven that science in Ukraine is alive, adaptive, and forward-looking. These events are more than meetings — they are a testament to our resilience, cooperation, and belief in the future.

Looking ahead to 2026, we are committed to continuing this journey: creating platforms for young professionals, strengthening international collaboration, and addressing the critical scientific and societal challenges facing our country and the world.

We sincerely thank everyone who stood with us, contributed their time, expertise, and trust, and helped make these initiatives possible.
We wish peace, strength, and inspiration to all Ukrainians, and hope that the coming year will bring new opportunities, renewed stability, and shared success.
