In these challenging times, we had a conversation with Veronika Shuster.

To revisit the past, we asked her about her feelings at the end of our international theatre residency and her emotions upon returning. The project has left a significant impact on our hearts.

🌱We invite you to read our short interview with .shuster and reminisce about the project once again.

✅Our priority is to showcase Ukrainian artists who, amidst these extreme conditions, continue to shape the cultural landscape of our country and introduce new artistic trends.

Throughout our project, we have extensively discussed , a close friend who has played a vital role in making this project possible.
Mykola and were classmates at the
Jacques Lecoq School of Physical Theater, where they met and developed a strong friendship.

🤍Mykola's work is truly inspirational, teaching professional resilience and fostering a sense of responsibility for the future.

He was born on December 13th.
Thirteen was his favorite number,
to the extent that he chose this day for his death.

His death became a protest against the first arrest of his close friend, Mykola Yaloviy. Mykola Khvylovy realized that this arrest marked the beginning of the end. "The arrest of Yaloviy is the extermination of an entire generation," said Khvylovy. This metaphor soon turned into a harsh reality in the coming years.

Did Khvylovy try to prevent it by pulling the trigger?
Or did he want to escape?
What was going through his mind seconds before?

We don't have the answers.

What we do know is that 90 years ago, on May 13th, 1933, he invited his friends to his apartment, telling them he would present his new work. During the gathering, he went to another room and shot himself.

As we remember his death, let us also remember his life.
You can listen to the audiobook of his short story "I am (a Romantic)" available here http://surl.li/gzszo

On April 26, 1986, 37 years ago, a catastrophic nuclear accident occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, which was under Soviet control at the time.

We remember this catastrophe as one of the greatest lies that the Soviet government told to the people, and one of the biggest tragedies that happened in Ukraine during the time it was occupied by the Soviets.
During that time, Ukrainian theatre was under Russian oppression and was forbidden from reflecting on this huge national trauma. Only after the fall of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, Ukrainian theatre began to address the Chernobyl disaster and its consequences.

We also remember the incident a year ago when Russian troops invaded the Chornobyl nuclear station, posing a serious threat to the safety and security of the facility and the ecological situation around it.
In April 2022, the occupants left the Chornobyl zone and it is now back under Ukrainian control.

As we reflect on the anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, we want to remember those who were affected by this disaster. Those who died, became ill, lost loved ones, homes, cities, and places of memories.

Happy Easter from Ukraine! 🐰🥚🌷

Today, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Ukraine, this day is also a time to honor our traditions.

Some people start the day with a church service and then gather with family to enjoy a festive meal.

Our Easter baskets are filled with traditional foods, including pysanky (decorated eggs) and p***a (sweet bread or Easter cake).

The quest to make this sweet bread is not easy and can take the whole day or even longer. That's why a lot of people just buy ready-made p***a.

We also have a fun tradition of cracking eggs with each other to see whose egg will remain unbroken. It's a beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and hope. This holiday, which symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, feels especially important now during these difficult times of loss and resistance.

How do you celebrate Easter in your culture?
