Dear friends! 💛

By God’s grace and thanks to the precious support of A Light for Ukraine, we continue helping children with disabilities who are in need of various kinds of support.

🚗 Transportation for medical care in Kyiv
Transportation to Kyiv for medical examinations and treatment was arranged for Yuliia Boyko, including visits to the Institute of Orthopedics, laboratory testing, and consultations at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital.

🏠 Improving living conditions
We continue supporting the family of Illia Kurbanov — a young man on a wheelchair — as they restore their home after a fire. The family received 20 bags of sand and 10 bags of cement. Illia and his mother sincerely thank you for your continued help, care, and support!

💊 Medicines and medical support
Bed-ridden Vika received medicines and a nebulizer; Nastia from Odesa received essential epilepsy medication while Nika received medications to strengthen her bones after knee joint surgery.

🧸 Support for children undergoing treatment
Two-year-old Matviy from Henichesk, who is currently receiving treatment in the pediatric oncohematology department, received a new stroller after his old one broke.

🧴 Hygiene supplies, diapers, food, and clothing
Roma — an orphaned boy with a disability — also received support. Recently, boy;s mother passed away from cancer, and he now lives with his grandmother, who reached out for help. Thanks to your kindness, we were able to provide Roma with seasonal clothing, shoes, hygiene supplies, and the gluten-free food he needs.

Alina — the mother of a special boy, Yehor — is courageously fighting stage 4 cancer. We were able to help Alina undergo an important examination in the radiology department of the Dnipro City Hospital. Alina received a scintigraphy scan, a vital procedure used to identify areas where metastases have spread, allowing doctors to plan further radiation treatment.

💖 From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone for supporting with your donations the children with special needs and families going through difficult times! ❤️‍🩹

Because of your kindness and compassion, help, care, and hope continue to reach the lives of these precious children and their families.

May God bless everyone! 🩷🙏🩷

Thank you so very much!!! 🙏🙏🙏

Back at the Pediatric Oncohematology Department

Dear friends!🙏

This week, we once again visited the children at the Kyiv Regional Cancer Center (Pediatric Oncohematology Department) – https://www.facebook.com/detikood

🎨 The children joyfully decorated wooden chests, painted magical dolphins, and little lighthouses over the sea waves. The sea theme always brings coziness and fond memories, while also giving kids hope that this meeting will happen again. And this truly gives the kids the strength and inspiration to recover more quickly! 🙏

🧸 While the young artists were busy creating, we managed to assemble a new toy dresser in the playroom. On top of it, we placed a freshly restored dollhouse.

Sincere thanks for the restoration – to the students of the Kyiv College of Design. For assembling the furniture – big thank you to Mr. Stepan.

🚼 We also brought a stroller for two-year-old Matviichyk, who is currently receiving treatment in the department.

Deep gratitude to doctor Olena Mykolaivna Halchynska – for inviting us to conduct creative activities that bring so much joy to both children and adults.

Thank you dear A Light for Ukraine supporters for helping bring joy and smiles to the little ones – they need it for their recovery as much as they need air.

🙏 May the Lord protect all the children, grant them good health, and give them the strength to recover as soon as possible!

💛 Dear friends! 💛

Thanks to the heartfelt support of A Light for Ukraine, 30+ care packages — with medicines, diapers, hygiene items, food, fruits, and more — were delivered to children with special needs.
Some of these kids are still in hospital beds, while others are growing stronger at home after being discharged.

Among the children with disabilities who received help:

🔹 3-year-old sunny child Eve, who needed a nebulizer and medications to recover from pneumonia
🔹 Bohdan, who required a special Shino corset for effective spine correction
🔹 5-year-old Eve, who was provided with a humidifier after ICU discharge following a tracheostomy and gastrostomy
🔹 fragile Vika from Dnipro, who urgently needed treatment for a severe form of dermatitis (Vika now stays in an orphanage’s hospital)
🔹 Melania from Kryvyi Rih, who received post-operative foot orthoses that lessen the pain in her feet

Every small package full of love and care means the world to each ailing child 💙💛 All families expressed their endless gratitude to everyone who stretched a helping hand to them!🧡🧡🧡

Our sincere gratitude goes to Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s devotees from Germany, to Mrs. Angelika Berger and Mr. Thomas Roland, for taking great care to provide fine quality diapers for special kids. This help is so valuable and essential for children who need diapers daily.🙏

Wishing God’s abundant blessings to every person who supports these little ones with all one's heart and generous donations. 🧡🙏🧡

Dear friends! 💙💛

A Light for Ukraine continues to support communities that care for children in frontline Ukrainian towns.

This Easter, we delivered food and ingredients for a cooking masterclass to the humanitarian hub "Invincible" (Nezlamni) in Trostianets, Sumy region — where children with special needs come together to create, cook, socialize and feel cared for. Let us us share with you the pictures of beautiful Easter cakes that kids made and decorated together☺️🥚🍰💖
Easter treats were also forwarded to a bomb shelter in Kherson, where children receive psychological support and attend art therapy classes lead by our good friend and courageous volunteers Anastasia Hrydina.

Dear friends! Thank you for your standing with all those kids who need support and care amidst wartime. Wishing you all a blessed and peaceful Easter.🕊️💖

Dear friends and readers!

The human body is a sacred gift from God to us. When we're healthy, we rarely stop to count our blessings. But for someone who cannot walk, simply standing on their own two feet becomes the greatest dream.

That is the dream of Yulechka Boyko from Shepetivka.

We met Yuliya three years ago. Yulia attended school in person and was an excellent student, fond of IT, math and science. But even then, she could not climb the stairs to her classroom on the second floor at her school. Doctors recommended surgery on her hip joint in the hope that it would make walking easier for her. But after the surgery and a long, difficult rehabilitation, Yulia’s condition unfortunately did not improve. For the past two years, Yulia has been completely unable to walk due to severe pain in her knees and hip joints.

Despite the pain, Yulia decided to keep fighting — to go to Kyiv, to the Institute of Orthopedics, to find a way out. Today we met again. Yulinka has lost a lot of weight; it was very hard for her to travel and even just to sit in her wheelchair. But despite all of this, I saw her radiant smile again — the smile with which she daily overcomes the pain and clings to the smallest hope of being able to walk again.

Yesterday the doctor has performed an examination, which revealed that Yulia’s pain and movement limitations are caused by tendons detaching from the bones. To proceed with a treatment Yulia has to undergo many analyses and then begin stem cell treatment in Kyiv. If that does not lead to improvement, she will have to undergo another surgery.

We believe that Yulechka will win this difficult battle, because she is a very persistent, courageous, and stubborn girl who is not going to give up!

Dear friends! We are infinitely grateful to A Light for Ukraine's donnnors and to everyone whose donations helped cover the cost of the X-ray examinations and Yulia’s transportation to Kyiv. Fuel has become very expensive these days, and Yulia simply cannot reach Kyiv any other way. We thank God for everyone who stands by children like Yulia!

We wish Yulechka nothing but victory! And we will continue to stand by her side! ❤🙏

Dear friends!

Beauty and positive emotions are always healing—especially at a cancer hospital, where children spend long, painful months needed for their recovery.

Our recent art session at the Kyiv Cancer Institute was truly filled with Easter joy, creativity, and hope. Tiny Calibri birds and cute bunnies came alive with spring colors and imagination, bringing smiles to all young participants. Everyone really, really enjoyed creating this beautiful floral composition!

Dear friends, thank you so much to everyone who supports our art therapy classes—helping us spread joy and good mood to little cancer fighters. 💛

Dear friends!🙏

Life is full of various hardships, but sometimes the best medicine is to do something truly meaningful for someone else.🫶

For four years now, we have been supporting families who have been left to face hardships alone amid the realities of war. Most of the children with disabilities we help are raised by their mothers alone and come from single-parent families. Many of these families live in frontline villages and towns or have relocated from the east, where the war continues to rage.

Some single mothers raise not one but two kids with disabilities like Mrs.Maria Nezhivova, the mother of 4 kids, whose baby daughter suffers from epilepsy and elder son has hydrocephalus of brain. As the war started Maria’s home remained in the occupied part of Ukraine. The mother with 4 kids found refuge in a small village Katerinyvka where her family now resides in an shabby house with a few comforts. With your support this time we were able to provide the mother with washing mashine. Maria expressed great gratitude for such important help for her family!

Among the mothers we care for are also women battling cancer while raising a child with special needs. One of them is Mrs.Alina, from Kryvyi Rih in Eastern Ukraine. Today Alina has stage 4 cancer, yet every day she also fights for the health and well-being of her younger son with disabilities, Yehor. Alina dreams of helping her son, who has cerebral palsy, walk on his own for as long as she lives. We continue to support Alina in this struggle, as every two months Yehor needs paid physiotheraputic rehabilitation courses that releive his legs from pain and lessen his muscle tone.

Alina grew up in an orphanage. Even though as a child she never experienced her mother’s love, her own heart is full of motherly kindness and compassion for those who suffer.
When Alina first reached out to us for help with a rehabilitation course for her son, she also asked if we could help get some large size adult diapers for a neighbor—a bedridden elderly lady with harsh form of diabetis. My heart got full of admiration for Alina, who, despite caring for her son with special needs, found the strength to help others in need. Later, Alina was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her challenges doubled, yet today she continues to care for her two sons and also for mothers with kids who face similar challenges as she does ❤️‍🩹.

Yeasterday Alina texted us, saying:

“I cannot stop thanking you for your help and support! …
I cannot travel with my child for rehabilitation because I have metastases in my bones, and everything hurts a lot..
But I am grateful to God that He still keeps me in this world…
Thank you for your helping us so many times"

Dear friends! We ask everyone to pray for Alina — that God would grant her dream of her son being able to walk, and also grant her health so that her two boys can be with their loving mother for as long as possible.

Please, pray for Alina!🙏💞

Thank you endlessly for your unwavering support of struggling families with special needs children.
May God give you good health and long lives, and may your goodness return to you manyfold.🙌🙌🙌

Thank God for your being with us!💖🙏🫂

Dear friends!

Today, Light for Ukraine lit up the windows of the pediatric oncohematology department at the Kyiv Regional Oncology Center in the colors of the rainbow🌈🌈🌈. We replaced all the old fabric scraps that had been serving as curtains in the wards and playroom where children spend long months of treatment. All in all, 18 new colourful roller blinds were installed.

Many thanks to everyone who helped us bring a touch of rainbow joy to these kids!

We are glad to pass along to you a message of gratitude from the head doctor, Olena Galchynska,

"A heartfelt thank you from all the young patients and the medical staff for the warmth and joy, for your kindness and gifts—the wonderful chairs for the playroom, the roller blinds for the windows, materials for children's creative activities, and the smiles you brought to kids. The smiles of our little patients shine brighter than the first spring rays of sunshine! Thank you!"❤️❤️❤️
