Ukrainian Patriot

Ukrainian Patriot Ukrainian Patriot is a group of Ukrainians and internationals working to aid volunteers defending UA On 24 February, 2022, we awoke to war in Ukraine.
(1)

Ukrainian Patriot was conceived on Day 5 of that war as a trusted source for the international community to donate funds, food, medicine, and tactical clothing to keep Ukrainian citizens fed, healthy, and alive. Although many of us are far away from Ukraine, the threat and destruction is brought home to us every day through the coverage we are seeing from traditional, digital and social media sour

ces. In 2022, war is raging again in Europe, perpetrated by Vladimir Putin over a once-peaceful Ukraine, a nation that has made incredible strides and yearns for a democratic and enduring freedom. Lana Nicole Niland has had the great fortune to spend the last 18 years living, dancing, creating art and developing amazing local partnerships in Kyiv, even as she built a network that stretched all the way back to Canada. She remained in Kyiv when the tanks breached the sovereign serenity of Ukraine. Lana has seen firsthand the volunteers sign up for Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces, which, though considered a Reserve Division of the regular Ukrainian Army, provides very little equipment for defense or personal protection. Seeing ways she could bring real help to these forces, she created the Ukrainian Patriot fund (UP). UP is a means of effecting on-the-ground changes for these brave souls as they face the nearly insurmountable odds of the invaders’ infantry and armoured divisions marching into their cities and destroying their homes, businesses, and peaceful way of life. Whether you are part of the Ukrainian diaspora, or simply a concerned fellow human being, the horrors we are witnessing from many KMs away have left us all feeling helpless as we witness this unfolding tragedy…

Be the change you want to see in the world. Give today so Ukraine has more than just brave hearts to protect them. Give today so there is hope for Ukraine tomorrow.

Слава Україні!

Last winter, we helped evacuate an animal shelter from Kostyantynivka. It was not simple: the conditions were cold; the time - limited; there were what seemed like sooo many animals; and there was never enough space. But we took what we could and moved them out.

This week, the building we helped clear was hit. What was left behind in Kostyantynivka is now gone, and there is no way to soften that blow. Their home, their previous life, is no longer there.

But Alyona is alive.
Her 64 dogs and 117 cats are alive.

And they no longer live under drones, rockets, and constant sirens. While there is still risk, it is no longer defined by how many times Alyona and her four-legged family need to take cover.

That outcome was not guaranteed. It happened because people chose to support the work - our work, when it was needed most.

This is what timely action looks like. This is why your trust in Ukrainian Patriot is so important.

Help us keep the success stories coming.

March kept us moving - literally. With the thaw, roads started to shift, thick sheets of ice released their grip, mud appeared in pools, and every route needed adjusting. We continued runs across both the south and the east, delivering food, medical supplies, generators, and the everyday items that are always needed - even when our vehicles said “enough”.
At the same time, we managed a resilience session in a place where the world has all but forgotten about kids. And our Resilience Centre continues to take on a new shape of its own.
Vehicles were sourced and others delivered, routes were changed, and plans adapted along the entire way.
Not easier than February. Just a different kind of difficult. That’s life in Ukraine.

A skipping rope turns in a small arching circle.

A little girl watches the timing, steps in, misses, giggles, and steps on to let the next child try. The sound of other children carries in the background. For a moment, it feels like any yard, anywhere. Behind her, the building stands with its windows boarded up. The glass is long gone.

This is Luch, Mykolaiv oblast.

A short while ago, we came to deliver aid, but stayed to spend time with the children in one of our Resilience Sessions. What you see in this moment is not a change in their reality. It is a brief shift within it. They still live here. They still go to sleep in the same conditions. Nothing about that has changed.
But for a few minutes, there is a rope, a rhythm, and a group of kids reminding themselves how to just be kids.

Easter in Ukraine looks a little different these days.

Still, there are moments where a table is set, something warm is shared, messages of light and hope are sent, and there’s a small pause in the middle of all the things that cause us to panic.
Across the country, people are marking the day in whatever way they can. Quietly. Simply. Together where possible.

From all of us at Ukrainian Patriot, we wish you a peaceful Easter. And wherever you are, we hope you find a moment today that feels a little lighter.

Thank you, Гуманітарна Нова пошта, for your reliable partnership!

Thanks to our collaboration with Nova Poshta Humanitarian, we are able to consistently deliver aid to those who need it most. Medical supplies, clothing, generators- all of it reaches defenders and civilians across different regions of Ukraine.

In our work, logistics is more than transportation. It’s the ability to support, to bring warmth, to save lives, and to help people keep going.

Thank you, Nova Poshta, for helping us help others. Together, we do more.

60+ pages. One year.
This is what 2025 looked like for Ukrainian Patriot.
Runs that did not stop.
Deliveries across regions that kept changing.
Vehicles sourced, repaired, and moved east.
Hospitals supplied.
Defenders equipped.
Resilience sessions held for children, women, and those carrying more than most people ever see.
It is also the part you do not see.
The delays.
The breakdowns.
The rerouting.
The hours behind one delivery that eventually looks simple.
This report is not a highlight reel. It is the full weight of a year.
If you have ever wondered what your support turns into, it is here.
