Втрата дому означає, що багато речей доводиться починати з нуля. Знову збирати найнеобхідніше для побуту, облаштовувати життя на новому місці й думати, як пережити зиму вже не у власній оселі. Для багатьох переселенців, особливо старших людей, це стає серйозним випробуванням.

👵 «Свого нічого немає, все треба купувати. Дрова збираємо потроху: щось купуємо, щось самі шукаємо. Холодно», — розповідає 69-річна Надія Дмитрівна, яка два роки тому евакуювалася з Торецька.

65-річний Віталій Миколайович також переїхав із Донеччини. Каже, що найважче — коли на все вже просто не вистачає сил.

🪵 «Я вже старий, а треба їхати, пиляти… Розумію, що мені потрібна допомога — або фізична, або фінансова. Ці кошти використаю на дрова. Ми з дружиною дуже цінуємо, що про нас не забули».

Щоб допомогти родинам у Синельниківському районі Дніпропетровщини, за фінансової підтримки Європейського Союзу ми реєструємо людей на отримання грошової допомоги для придбання палива. Родини можуть самостійно обрати те, що їм потрібно найбільше: дрова, брикети чи вугілля. А якщо частину коштів вдається заощадити, їх можна спрямувати на інші нагальні потреби — наприклад, ліки чи продукти.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Наразі у Синельниківському районі ми вже зареєстрували близько 200 людей.

Losing your home means having to rebuild the basics of everyday life from scratch — finding essential household items, settling into an unfamiliar place, and figuring out how to get through the winter away from your own home. For many displaced people, particularly older people, this can be especially difficult.

👵 “We have nothing of our own, so everything has to be bought. We collect firewood little by little: we buy some and look for some ourselves. It’s cold,” says 69-year-old Nadiya, who evacuated from Toretsk two years ago.

65-year-old Vitalii also moved from Donetsk Oblast. He says one of the hardest things is simply not having the physical strength to do everything himself.

🪵 “I’m already old, but I still have to go out and cut wood… I understand that I need help — either physical or financial. I’ll use this money to buy firewood. My wife and I really appreciate knowing that we haven’t been forgotten.”

To help families in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast prepare for the colder months, with financial support from the European Union, we are registering people to receive cash assistance for heating fuel. Families can decide for themselves what they need most — firewood, briquettes or coal. If they are able to save part of the assistance, they can use it for other essential needs, such as medicines or food.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 So far, we have registered around 200 people in the Synelnykove district.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 «Ми самотужки будували цей дім всією родиною. 40 років він стояв, а цьогоріч “поламався”», – згадує Галина із Вільнянська, яка вже вдруге пережила дронову атаку.

💥 Після чергового обстрілу в її будинку вибило вікна та сильно пошкодило дах. Вікна вдалося замінити, а от із ремонтом даху 71-річна Галина впоратися самотужки не могла.

🛠️ За підтримки уряду США ми допомогли їй. Надані кошти повністю покрили витрати на ремонт даху.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 “We built this house ourselves, as a family. It stood for 40 years, and this year it ‘broke’,” says 71-year-old Halyna from Vilniansk, who has already lived through two drone attacks.

💥 After the latest attack, the windows in her home were shattered and the roof was badly damaged. The windows were replaced, but repairing the roof was more than Halyna could manage on her own.

🛠️ With support from the U.S. Government, we provided Halyna with financial assistance that fully covered the cost of repairing her roof.

🍇 Today, she is back to tending her home and garden — harvesting grapes, preparing for winter, and hoping for one thing above all: that nothing strikes her home again and that the house her family built will remain standing. Watch Halyna’s story from Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

💪 У 87 років Юрій Григорович із Вільнянська, що на Запоріжжі, вражає своєю енергією та залізною самодисципліною. Більшість життя він працював на заводі, опанував складну хіміко-термічну обробку деталей азотом, спав по 4-5 годин на добу й щодня мав чіткий план дій.

📃 «Я на день писав програму, що маю зробити. Аналізував, чому щось не встиг, знаходив причини й лише тоді заспокоювався», – розповідає чоловік.

🧔‍♂️ Юрій звик покладатися на власні сили і працьовитість: виховав двох синів, опікувався хворою дружиною, займався спортом та аж до 2022 року виступав із гуморесками.

💥 Проте війна підійшла просто до його подвір'я. Російський «Шахед» вибухнув за 25 метрів від оселі Юрія. Вибухова хвиля пошкодила покрівлю й вщент розбила шибки.

🏚️ «Вибухнуло через одну садибу. У мене і в сусідів усе повилітало, дах підняло. Але я цілий залишився, осколками не зачепило», – пригадує чоловік.

🛠️ З властивою йому ґрунтовністю господар взявся за ремонт: латав покрівлю, замазував щілини. Проте засклити розтрощені вікна без сторонньої підтримки було важко.

🤝 Аби повернути безпеку й тепло в оселю пенсіонера, ми за фінансової підтримки уряду США допомогли встановити нові вікна. Тепер у домі Юрія Григоровича знову затишно, а прийдешня зима вже не так лякає.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Загалом у Вільнянську таку допомогу отримали 83 найуразливіші родини.

💪 At 87, Yurii Hryhorovych from Vilniansk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, impresses with his energy and remarkable self-discipline. He spent most of his life working at a factory, where he mastered the complex process of chemical and thermal treatment of metal parts using nitrogen. He slept just four to five hours a night and planned each day carefully.

📃 “I used to write down everything I needed to do each day. If I didn’t manage something, I would analyse why, find the reason, and only then could I feel at ease,” he recalls.

🧔‍♂️ Yurii has always relied on his own strength and hard work. He raised two sons, cared for his ailing wife, stayed active in sports and, until 2022, even performed humorous monologues.

💥 But the war reached his doorstep. A Russian Shahed drone exploded just 25 metres from Yurii’s home. The blast damaged the roof and shattered the windows.

🏚️ “It exploded just one house away. The windows in my house and my neighbours’ homes were blown out, and the roof was lifted by the blast. But I was unharmed — the shrapnel didn’t hit me,” Yurii recalls.

🛠️ With his characteristic determination, Yurii set about repairing the damage himself, patching the roof and sealing the cracks. But replacing the shattered windows was difficult without support.

🤝 To help make his home safe and warm again, we installed new windows with financial support from the U.S. Embassy Kyiv Ukraine U.S. Government. Yurii’s home is now cosy again, and the approaching winter feels a little less daunting.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 In total, 83 of the most vulnerable families in Vilniansk received this assistance.

👩‍👦 «Він навіть не знає, що таке жити без тривог і війни»

Син Ганни народився за місяць до повномасштабного вторгнення. У свої чотири роки він із старшою сестрою вже чітко знає правило двох стін і без слів іде в коридор, коли лунає сирена.

🏡 Ганна робить усе, щоб дати дітям нормальне дитинство в рідних Дергачах. Але небезпека зростає, і вона все частіше думає про повторну евакуацію. Втім, виїхати з родиною, де є літні люди, — це надскладний крок.

Поки сім'я залишається вдома, ми поруч. Завдяки фінансуванню уряду США надаємо Ганні та іншим родинам Харківщини ваучери на товари першої потреби, щоб підтримати найвразливіших.

👩‍👦 “He doesn’t even know what it’s like to live without air raid alerts and war.”

Hanna’s son was born just one month before the full-scale invasion. At four years old, he and his older sister already know the “two-wall rule” well and, without a word, head to the corridor when the air raid siren sounds.

🏡 Hanna is doing everything she can to give her children a normal childhood in their hometown of Derhachi. But as the danger grows, she finds herself thinking more and more often about evacuating again. Yet leaving with a family that includes elderly relatives is an extremely difficult decision.

While the family remains at home, we are there to support them. Thanks to funding from the U.S. Government, we provide Hanna and other families in Kharkiv Oblast with vouchers for essential items, helping support those who are most vulnerable.

👩‍🦽‍➡️ У салоні спецтранспорту — Аліна. Вона користується кріслом колісним. Для неї ця поїздка — єдина можливість безпечно дістатися до лікаря й повернутися додому.

💥 З початку року громадський транспорт у Херсоні атакували понад 100 разів. У таких умовах звичайне пересування містом перетворюється на смертельний ризик, а для маломобільних людей — на майже неподоланний бар'єр.

🤝 Разом із партнерами «Сильні бо вільні» ми забезпечуємо роботу соціального таксі, аби херсонці не залишалися сам на сам із небезпекою.

👩‍🦽‍➡️ Inside the specialised vehicle is Alina. She uses a wheelchair. For her, this journey is the only way to safely get to the doctor and return home.

💥 Since the beginning of the year, public transport in Kherson has been attacked more than 100 times. Under these conditions, simply getting around the city becomes a deadly risk — and for people with reduced mobility, an almost insurmountable barrier.

🚑 25 років Олена працювала медсестрою у психоневрологічному інтернаті на Харківщині. Через бойові дії вона втратила роботу, звичний побут і рідний дім. Але не втратила наполегливості та рішучості почати все спочатку.

🧵 Олена евакуювалася у Харків і перевчилася на швачку. А згодом знайшла роботу в іншої Олени — підприємиці, яка наважилася відкрити швейний бізнес у ці нелегкі часи.

🤝 Завдяки підтримці Уряду Швейцарії майстерня отримала грант на покращення умов роботи для своїх працівниць.

🚑 For 25 years, Olena worked as a nurse at a psychoneurological boarding facility in Kharkiv Oblast. The hostilities cost her job, her familiar routine, and her home. But it didn't cost her determination to start again.

🧵 Olena evacuated to Kharkiv and retrained as a seamstress. She later found work with another Olena, an entrepreneur who dared to open a sewing business in these difficult times.

«Головне – відчуття, що ти не покинута».

🫂 Для Людмили, яка рік тому евакуювалася із Куп'янська до Харкова, підтримка – це знати, що поруч є люди, яким не байдуже.

👵 «Я навчилася радіти простим речам. Є де спати, що приготувати, з ким поговорити на лавочці біля будинку. Слава Богу, що є добрі люди, які допомогли виїхати та підтримують нас зараз».

🏡 Людмила мешкає у колективному центрі, як і 72-річна Надія. Жінка виїхала з Мелітополя на початку повномасштабної війни.

👩‍🦳 «Я втратила все: свій дім, свій спокій, свою родину. Тут я просто тінь. Рада будь-якій допомозі – щось із ліків, гігієна. Немає можливості придбати все, в чому є необхідність».

🚚 Ми передали жителям двох колективних центрів у Харкові 160 гігієнічних наборів. Це стало можливим за підтримки уряду США та у співпраці з нашим партнером – Харківським благодійним фондом «БЛАГО».

🫂 For Liudmyla, who was evacuated from Kupiansk to Kharkiv a year ago, support means knowing that there are people nearby who care.

👵 “I’ve learnt to find joy in the simple things. Having somewhere to sleep, something to cook, someone to chat with on the bench outside the building. Thank God there are kind people who helped us evacuate and who continue to support us now.”

🏡 Liudmyla lives in a collective centre, as does 72-year-old Nadiia. She was evacuated from Melitopol at the beginning of the full-scale war.

👩‍🦳 “I’ve lost everything: my home, my peace of mind, my family. Here, I’m just a shadow. I’m grateful for any help – medicines, hygiene products. I can’t afford to buy everything I need.”

🚚 We distributed 160 hygiene kits to residents of two collective centres in Kharkiv. This was made possible with the support of the U.S. government and in collaboration with our partner, the Kharkiv Charitable Foundation BLAGO.

🌻 «Я знайшов тут своє місце та відкрив самого себе», – згадує Дмитро.

💥 Через війну чоловік був змушений двічі тікати від бойових дій. Він не міг ходити через травму, коли він потрапив до прихистку в Підгородньому на Дніпропетровщині.

🤝 Згодом Дмитро не лише одужав, а й почав працювати тут соціальним працівником. Він допомагає іншим мешканцям прихистку, а у вільний час знаходить розраду в музиці та догляді за квітами.

🎸 Історія Дмитра – лише одна з багатьох у мінімодульному містечку «Мотивація жити». Для сотень переселенців із Донеччини та Дніпропетровщини воно стало не просто прихистком, а місцем, де можна відновитися після евакуації, оформити необхідні документи та отримати лікування. Ми ж надаємо мешканцям грошову підтримку за сприяння уряду Швейцарії.

🌻 “I found my place here and discovered who I really am,” Dmytro recalls.

💥 Because of the war, he was forced to flee the fighting twice. When he arrived at the shelter in Pidhorodne, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, he was unable to walk due to an injury.

🤝 Over time, Dmytro not only recovered but also began working at the shelter as a social worker. He now helps other residents, while in his spare time, he finds peace in music and caring for his flowers.

🎸 Dmytro’s story is just one of many from the “Motivation to Live” modular housing complex. For hundreds of displaced people from Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, it has become more than just a shelter—it is a place where they can recover after evacuation, obtain the necessary documents, and receive medical treatment. With support from the Swiss Development & Cooperation Swiss government, we provide financial assistance to the residents.

Понад 250 евакуйованих людей – приблизно стільки за день приймає транзитний центр у Лозовій на Харківщині.

📍 Люди їдуть із Краматорська, Слов’янська та інших міст, де тривають обстріли. Серед них – діти, літні та маломобільні. Родин стає більше, а разом із ними зростає потреба в допомозі.

Ми підтримуємо роботу цього транзитного центру разом із фондом «Янголи спасіння». Завдяки донатам чеського народу п’ять соціальних працівниць допомагають новоприбулим.

🫂 Для тих, хто щойно врятувався від обстрілів, підтримка може починатися із дуже простого: теплої їжі, місця для ночівлі, чистого одягу або питання: «Як ви?».

More than 250 evacuees — that’s roughly how many people the transit centre in Lozova, Kharkiv Oblast, receives each day.

📍 People are arriving from Kramatorsk, Sloviansk and other towns where shelling continues. Among them are children, older people and people with reduced mobility. More and more families are arriving, and with them, the need for support is growing.

We support the work of this transit centre together with the Angels of Salvation Foundation. Thanks to donations from people in Czechia, five social workers are there to support new arrivals.

🫂 For those who have only just escaped the shelling, support can start with something very simple: a hot meal, a place to sleep, clean clothes, or simply asking, “How are you?”
