Registration and abstract submission are open for the ASLO-SIL 2026 Joint Meeting from 12-16 May 2026 in Montreal, Canada. SIL is proud to be sponsoring this meeting alongside the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO).
This year’s theme, “Aquatic Confluence: Science, People, Knowledge,” will focus on the many ways freshwater and marine environments intersect. Beyond confluence in hydrology, this event will explore the connections among scientists as well as between stakeholders and indigenous knowledge keepers in the spirit of codesign to address society’s greatest issues around aquatic habitats and water resources.

Submit an Abstract
All SIL members are invited to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentations. A link to the abstract submission site will be included in your registration confirmation email. With over 100 sessions, please be sure to review the Session List to ensure your submission is in the most appropriate session. To have your abstract considered, you must submit and register before abstract deadline of 11:59 p.m., Central Standard Time (USA) on 25 November 2025 (05:59 Greenwich Mean Time).
Registration for the meeting and payment of the appropriate abstract submission fee is required prior to submitting your abstract. This includes speakers who have been contacted by session organizers and “invited” to present in a scientific or educational session.
Follow the link in your abstract fee payment confirmation email. You will be asked to log in to your Guest Account and will arrive at the first page of the abstract submission form. Be sure to read the abstract preparation guide before submitting.

Apply for the Wetzel Travel Awards
Following one of Robert Wetzel’s highest priorities, the Wetzel Award pays SIL-related expenses of young limnologists throughout the world that might otherwise be unable to participate and present their work in SIL congresses.
Candidates must comply with the following criteria:
Have been a SIL member in the year prior to the congress (in this case, prior to May 12, 2025). Becoming a SIL member now will not qualify you. You will need your SIL member ID number to fill out the apply. Your SIL member ID number is : 6035257
Present a paper either orally or by poster in person at the congress (you must first register for the congress and submit an abstract)
Previous award recipients are not eligible to apply again.
Complete Wetzel Award applications and letters of support must be submitted no later than December 2, 2025 to the SIL Office at [email protected]
While you are submitting an abstract for a presentation, you can apply for ASLO and SIL travel grants, including the SIL Wetzel Travel Award.
