In 2008 NGO Convictus Ukraine launched a Three-Step Probation and Post-Prison Reintegration Program in Ukraine funded by SIDA and supported by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the State Department of Ukraine for Ex*****on of Sentences. The program involved creating a “Halfway House”, which became a unique and the only centre in Ukraine to provide social, psychological, legal and educa

tional services as well as temporary housing for women released from prison. The main objectives of the Centre are reintegrating program participants back into society and preventing repeat crime.
