11.03.2016, 11:30 – a roundtable meeting with the participants of the program «Online Workplace English for Displaced People» who are from Lugansk and Donetsk regions will be held in Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv, Shevchenko Avenue, 12).
The aim of this program is to help this category of young people to be employed and integrate into society by obtaining basic knowledge of Business English.
The program is funded by the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Ukraine in Kyiv, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
During the meeting, a certificate delivery ceremony to the participants of the first stage of the program will be held and new participants of the program who will begin their studies from March to June 2016 will be presented.
Kevin McCaughey , an attaché of the US Embassy in Ukraine concerning English Study, representatives of government and international public organizations, universities of Luhansk, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, representatives of youth institutions, educational and social protection institutions, human rights organizations, employment centers, program participants, teachers, mass media and others will participate in this event.
During the meeting, a purpose, objectives and prospects of the program and possibilities of cooperation with social partners will be highlighted.
Information
The first stage of the program lasted from November 2015 to February 2016 and this program was implemented by partner organizations in Kyiv, Severodonetsk, Artemovsk, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and Mykolaiv.
According to students’ feedback, they had a great opportunity to be taught by professionals (English teachers) and significantly improve their English and professional skills.
Course participants have stressed on the importance of cooperation with the State Employment Service. Meetings and seminars have helped them to get basic knowledge on rights in the field of employment, resume writing and innovations related to the employment of people who have a status of IDP.
It should be noted that extra English classes were held for boys and girls with health problems who did not have basic English knowledge. These classes were useful not only for their professional development but for their communication.
The coordination of the program in Lugansk and Donetsk regions and Kyiv has been realized by LRPYO “AYD- the East” with the support of Youth and Sports Department of Lugansk Regional State Administration, PI “Luhansk regional center of social and cultural adaptation of young people with disabilities,” LNU named after Taras Shevchenko, Municipal Public Library in Severodonetsk, Central Regional Library named after M.O. Nekrasov of Central Library System in Goloseyevskiy district of Kyiv, the Council of public organizations of people with disabilities and their families - IDPs from the Eastern part of Ukraine.
Public organization “New Vision” is a coordinator of this program. This program is also implemented in partnership with Dnipropetrovsk National University named after Oles Gonchar (Dnipropetrovsk), Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages of State Higher Educational Establishment "Donbass State Pedagogical University" and NGO "Centre of philology" (Artemovsk), Charitable Foundation "From Joint Vision to Joint Actions" (Mykolaiv region) and NGO of Disabled (Odessa region).
This event will be held with the support of Taras Shevchenko National Museum.
