Nigel and Jan in Ukraine.
On Wednesday 18th September Nigel Watson and Jan Dyer set out at 8.30am from Odessa in Ukraine to travel to Artszy to visit a small orphanage that had asked for help to repair their damaged roof.
The route would take them through part of Moldova 🇲🇩 and would take all day to complete.
On arrival in Artsyz they were met by Rustan and Julia who run the orphanage, they have one young son of their own....David along with 10 other children in the orphanage, only two of which are girls.
After a tour of the orphanage which is more like a large family home for everyone and been treated to a welcome cup of coffee and a slice of cake Nigel and Jan unloaded handpacked and labelled gifts donated by Ally Haywood and her family, children's clothes, hygiene products, also various children's writing equipment, colouring books, a new Ipad, games, sweets, food for their dogs and cats etc which had been donated by members of Holy Trinity Church Bembridge and family/friends.
After everything had been unloaded from the van attention was turned to the roof repair that needs to be completed before the winter months return.
A charity called Caritass has undertaken to carry out repairs due to begin some time next week but there is a shortfall of materials to complete the work.
Rustan said that £800 more was needed for materials which Nigel and Jan could give to the orphanage from the Bembridge church PCC donations.
From Nigel and Jan
"The day had been not only very busy but very fulfilling and
we are so appreciative to everyone who donated money, supplies and prayers to this special mission in Ukraine"
